They're remembered as one-hit wonders, but I've always loved Toadies; meaty alt-rock that kicks the Foo Fighters' collective ass. Sure, they rip off the Pixies aesthetic more than a little, but they wrote some great songs. Hell Below/Stars Above is an especially good album ("Motivational", "Little Sin", "Dollskin")

And now, they're apparently reunited and touring! Just in time to release another album on their 7-year timescale. Not sure how the new material will compare to the old stuff, but I do plan to catch them when they come to L.A.

Any thoughts on Toadies? Anyone seen them live, and/or anyone plan to?

Nice.

Toadies are a long standing favorite of mine. I think I have actually paid good money for Rubberneck three or four times over the years, as one copy gets scratched, lost or stolen.

I completely agree with Hell Below/Stars Above. That is an amazingly dynamic album. I would say my favorite track would have to be "Pressed Against the Sky" though, but "Dollskin" is a close second.

I insist that everyone write down Toadies and at least check for them next time you go to a used music store or something.

i remember seeing them play on some crazy late night new year's eve concert/band competition thing on ABC back in....1989 I think? They played "Mr. Love", which sounded great, but they lost to some really awful R&B/top-40 act...it was sad.
