I can't stand 311.

Convince me the new album is worth the bandwidth, let alone my time.

Blue, Transistor and Soundsystem are classics. If you don't like those albums then how would a new album convince you of anything?

Yeah, right. Classics. Because all the great reviews they got clearly cemented 311's place as a part of the pop music canon. Roll Eyes

It's true, those albums are classics, regardless of whether they are to your liking or not.

They are classics. I would know, I've listened to them hundreds of times, you haven't.

I have no reason to trust your subjectivity over mine, even if you have listened to them hundreds of times. I also have no reason to trust that hundreds of listens would give somebody an accurate subjective response as to the supposed quality of the music being listened to.

I think it's completely fair that you enjoy them as much as you do - god knows I've listened to some albums hundreds of times that aren't "classics," though to me they hold something of classic status in my own little world.

Btw, you realize how much we are both trolling each other here - an intellectual debate over the "quality of music" can't be won (or lost) by either of us since we are merely two subjects with competing subjectivities. It's like a scientist arguing with a religious person - the two have competing belief systems that offer one another a claim on "truth" and yet cannot possibly sway the other individual so long as the other individual remains committed to their personal beliefs.
