I recently discovered Citizen Cope (aka Clarence Greenwood) and he is pretty damn good. His first release was in 2002 and he currently has 3 albums out. I haven't seen much mention of him on here and I'm curious to see what people think. His style is very unique with a mix of rock, pop, r&b, reggae, and blues. Anyone interested should check out the following 3 songs...

"Brother Lee" (I consider this to be one of the best songs of the last 5 years: Very catchy tune.)

"D'Artagnan's Theme"

"Sideways"

Nice to get such positive feedback. A smarter man than me once said, "Put your finger in a cup of water and pull it out. That's the hole you leave in this world." Maybe if somebody tells me that I'm an idiot and Citizen Cope is awful, then I will feel validated. Oh the lengths we go for validation.

My copy of "The Clarence Greenwood Recordings" hasn't arrived yet, sorry. Wink But I did enjoy "Bullet and a Target".

"The Clarence Greenwood Recordings" was OK. There were a few songs that showed exceptional promise ("My Way Home", "Sun's Gonna Rise" and the fantastic "Bullet and a Target") but often it's an album that's lacking a little something. Nice combination of contemporary instrumentation, bluesy underground and hip-hop though, I will have to check out this artist's first album. Is it any good?

The first album is pretty good. Unfortunately, you kinda have to sort through all his music because he has some weak tracks. Overall though, his material is pretty consistent with the above mentioned songs being my absolute favorites.
