So, it's been a while since I've done this but if you ask me, this play has been deadsville for good music talk for a while now. Talking Heads are one of my favorite bands—not The Talking Heads and not Talkingheads—but yes, Talking Heads. They are part of that great New Wave/Art Rock genre but their music was so much more than that—which is why I am sticking this in Alternative.
After getting a big opening gig for The Ramones at CBGB in '76 the group started recording together. Whether you love their first album or the stuff with Brian Eno or the stuff post-Brian Eno, all of it is excellent. I grew up listening to their music as they were passed down from my dad and their Little Creatures album was released only nine days after I was born (I wonder if I am the baby David Byrne is talking about in "Stay Up Late").
Longtime members know that I am huge fan of this band but I hope that more than six people contribute on here. This is the thread to discuss everything Talking Heads, vote for your favorite album and to discuss the band's amazing, significant and influential music.

I'm terribly fond of Remain in Light, but that's at least partially because it was my first real exposure to them. It's pretty much a toss-up between that and Fear of Music. They're all no less than very good, but those two are clear five star, all time albums.
I like them quite a bit. I feel a bit uncomfortable voting because I don't know all of their albums. I only know their first four records.
That being said, out of their first four I'd have to go with Remain in Light. It sort of feels like the pinaccle of the three albums they did Eno. I had "Crosseyed and Painless" in my head for about a week one time.

I agree with a lot of what you all have said, though still haven't voted, it's hard!
One thing I love about the band is the way they were able to incorporate such unique and diverse sounds into their music. They were able to create a catchy and memorable melody—even at the end of their career—like in "(Nothing But) Flowers" and still make it sound distinct and fresh.
Do you all feel that Brian Eno gets too much/not enough/or just the right amount credit on the three albums he produced (More Songs About Buildings and Food, Fear of Music and Remain in Light)? And do you think that his presence was missed on the albums that followed? If you ask me, they are all good!

ha well as you can probably tell from my username, I am rather fond of Talking Heads. My favourite seems to change week to week, and at the moment it is Fear Of Music, hence I voted for that. I think More Songs About Buildings and Food is criminally overlooked, and you can definitely notice a huge improvement on the production from '77... so yes I think Eno definitely deserves a lot of credit
I voted for Remain in Light simply because it has my favorite song "Once in a Lifetime", even though I didn't actually hear the song for the first time until I was in summer camp back around 1986 or '87.

I'm looking for Russian Militant Black Metal. Semi-good production is a plus, as are clean vocals (if kept to a minimum). Also looking for vocals in Russian. Basically like a Russian version of Absurd...

Stop Making Sense is the definitive concert movie and soundtrack. At one point many years ago, we played "what album would you want to have if stranded on a desert island" and I chose "Stop Making Sense." Still love that album.
I used to be disgusted, but now I'm just amused.
