Yes. It seems like every album that comes out now days has to have an obligatory Animal Collective reference. It's like Animal Collective has become the standard by which all other music is described. Coldplay would be: Animal Collective, but with more straight forward vocals, lyrics and song structure, and less tribal drums and droning synths.

Really liking VLV, actually. The closest I could relate them to AC is saying that part of "Yes" sounds like My Bloody Valentine, and uh... wait, MBV is good and AC is not.

The new Coldplay is vaguely enjoyable if you try not to pay too much attention, but I really think that if you put Coldplay and Animal Collective inside a boxing ring, gave them shovels and let them have at it, AC would come out on top handily.

"Lost!" has the most insanely addictive beat I've heard in a while. I can't seem to stop repeating it! Viva La Vida is growing on me the more I hear it - even some of the songs I didn't care for at first, like "Violet Hill." It's better than X&Y and might catch up to A Rush of Blood eventually. No matter how much Coldplay gets bashed and maligned, they'll still always be a favorite band of mine (and great to see live, btw).

Radiohead, definitely. I'd like to see Coldplay write a masterpiece like OK Computer or Kid A. Coldplay is a good band, don't get me wrong, but Radiohead is legendary
