Radiohead are a bit overated I think. Creep was a great single, The Bends was a flawless album, and Ok Computer was okay, but not exellent. They're other two LPs show how egocentric they became after Ok Computer, and they're 6th record sees a return to guitars...anyway, the best of Radiohead:

Creep
Stop Whispering
High & Dry
Fake Plastic Trees
Street Spirit (Fade Out)
Just
Planet Telex
Nice Dream
No Surprises
Karma Police
Paranoid Android
Subteranian Homesick Alien
Let Down
Everything In It's Right Place
Motion Picture Soundtrack
Morning Bell
2+2=5 (though it's a bit phoney how the guitar riff is very similar to Street Spirit (Fade Out)
There There
Sail To The Moon

I am going to attempt to choose my top 3 songs from each album (aside from 'Pablo Honey,' as I don't feel any songs on it belong on a 'Best of...'). This list is necessarily of-the-moment, Radiohead is my all-time favorite band and as such, my favorite songs are constantly changing:

Bulletproof...I Wish I Was
Just
Planet Telex
Subterranean Homesick Alien
Paranoid Android
The Tourist
In Limbo
How To Disappear Completely
Morning Bell
Pyramid Song
Like Spinning Plates
Dollars & Cents
There There
The Gloaming
Sail To The Moon

Not all those who wander are lost.

Alright, I guess I should make one of these lists too... (In order)

  • 15. Sit Down Stand Up (first third is wicked)
  • 14. Just (good song, a bit plain sadly)
  • 13. Like Spinning Plates (weird but good)
  • 12. Motion Picture Soundtrack (wonderful except for SILENCE(?))
  • 11. Street Spirit (I think it is their most beautiful song)
  • 10. Karma Police (catchy, powerful, eventually dull)
  • 9. The Bends (I know it's pretty mainstream, but damn good)
  • 8. My Iron Lung (stuck in my head still...)
  • 7. Life In A Glass House (last minute is perfect for closing credits of a movie)
  • 6. There There (good reason why it was #1 single in Canada)
  • 5. Paranoid Android (you can't leave it out of top 5, can you?)
  • 4. Exit Music (don't know why but I really like this one)
  • 3. Kid A (their weirdest one I think but very good, the first minute and the last are magical)
  • 2. 2+2=5 (this song is a sure thing at #2. Guitar is fantastic at first and then blazing through 2nd half. ever notice at 2:25 it rocks out?
  • 1. Electioneering (you must think I'm nuts making this #1 but it is such a fantastic song. For an odd band to make the best rock song ever is also odd. Would have been a smash hit if someone else recorded it.)

Honourable mentions are too numerous to mention. But don't think it would be Subter. Homesick Alien or How to Disappear Completely 'cause they really stink

so i really like making playlists, and spending time on them so that they flow really well.

I'm going to be doing this for various artists and making a mix CD every other week to pass around my dorm at college. My first one was radiohead.

Here's the mix. It includes some of my favorites, some singles, and songs that just fit in to specific spots; it's 1:16 long and it really flows, so try it out and enjoy.

1. Planet Telex- a good opening track and one to get people excited for what's to come (especially if they haven't heard radiohead before)
2. Palo Alto- I LOVE the strings squeaking throughout, and it is so LOUD and again, is a good intro song to get people acquaintanced with Thom before things start getting weird. It also flows right out of Planet Telex.
3. Paranoid Android- the listener is finally hit HARD by the power of radiohead.
4. Exit Music (For A Film)- slowing it down, but packing an emotional punch.
5. You And Whose Army?
6. Pyramid Song
7. 15 Step- the loud first beat kicks right in just like Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors
8. I Might Be Wrong- getting the music to be hard as f again....
9. There There. (The Boney King Of Nowhere.)
10. Bodysnatchers- and with this and the next, the listener will be rocking their head.
11. The National Anthem
12. Airbag (I prefer the Airbag/How Am I Driving? version, but the OK Computer version works too).
13. Jigsaw Falling Into Place
14. Go To Sleep. (Little Man Being Erased.)
15. Lucky- the guitar sound of this song lends nicely to street spirit, and the "we are standing on the edge" melody gets me every time.
16. Street Spirit (Fade Out)
17. Videotape- a great closer.

The playlist choices were something like 64 songs, and I trimmed it down to these 17. I know you may not agree with all the choices, but I urge you to give it a shot.

Personally, compiling Radiohead's excellent catalogue into a list of songs would eliminate what I love most about the band. Their albums. I would never ever listen to it. Even to introduce someone, just start with "the Bends" and go forward.

i would agree that their strength lies in their albums. this is just an introductory mix, as each album is not for everyone (i personally am not a big fan of most of the bends) and there are not enough weeks to do radiohead album by album as well as the other artists i would like to introduce people to...

Ok the best radiohead tracks...
just my personal opinion... gone over 17 tracks

over time I have grown to dislike creep, imo these are stronger tracks on the album...

1. you (pablo honey)
2. Blow out (pablo honey) the jazz influences were there all along
3. Fake Plastic Trees (The Bends)
4. Nice Dream (the bends)
5. My Iron Lung
6. Street Spirit
7. Talk Show Host (B-Side)
8. Paranoid Android (OK Computer)
9. Exit Music (OK Computer)
10. Karma Police (OK Computer)
11. Climbing up walls (OK Computer)
12. Everything in the right place (kid A)
1. The National Anthem (kid A)
15. How to disappear completely (kid A)
16. Idioteque (Kid A)
17. Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box, (Amnesiac)
18. You And Whose Army (Amnesiac)
19. I Might Be Wrong (Amnesiac)
20. 2 + 2 =5 (Hail to the thief)
21. Where I End and You Begin (Hail to the thief)
22. There There (Hail to the thief)
23 A Punch-up at a Wedding (Hail to the thief)
24. A Wolf at the Door (Hail to the thief)
25. 15 Step (in Rainbows)
26. Bodysnatchers (in Rainbows)
27. Reckoner (in Rainbows)
28. Jigsaw Falling Into Place (in Rainbows)
29. Videotape (in Rainbows)
30. Pearly (Airbag / How Am I Driving? [EP])

of course I am sure that plenty of ppl will disagree with me, while I liked the bends and ok computer (saw them on both tours) to me the band became really interesting with Kid A it was the first album of theirs that completely floored me, and while Hail to the thief was a bit too long some of the best tracks were among their best). To me pablo honey was too influenced by The Pixies, The Bends by U2 and Jeff Buckley, Ok Computer by Pink Floyd, ok Kid A was influenced by Aphex Twin but the combination of rock and electronic music...this is where Radiohead started to really impress me.

And here's my 17 tracks selection, in chronological order. It shows that OK computer not only is one of my favourite records ever, on one hand, but also, on the other, that it's the only one by them that I really love.

1. Creep
2. Black star
3. Sulk
4. Paranoid android
5. Exit music (for a film)
6. Let down
7. Karma police
8. No surprises
9. Electioneering
10. How to disappear completely
11. Knives out
12. Life in a glass house
13. 2+2=5
14. Where I end and you begin
15. A wolf at the door
16. Nude
17. Jigsaw falling into place

For sake of a bit more balance, I'll make one without OK Computer's songs:

1. 2+2=5 (Hail to the thief)
2. You and whose army? (Amnesiac)
3. Black star (The bends)
4. Nude (In rainbows)
5. Where I end and you begin (Hail to the thief)
6. Knives out (Amnesiac)
7. Creep (Pablo honey)
8. Jigsaw falling into place (In rainbows)
9. How to disappear completely (Kid A)
10. There there (Hail to the thief)
11. (Nice dream) (The bends)
12. Life in a glass house (Amnesiac)
13. 15 step (In rainbows)
14. A wolf at the door (Hail to the thief)
15. Sulk (The bends)
16. I might be wrong (Amnesiac)
17. Motion picture soundtrack (Kid A)
