Metacritic has a new Verve album listed for October. My first thought was 'Hits compilation', but then I went to their myspace page and saw posts of people talking about new singles of theirs. And apparently they're doing shows in England.

Are the Verve really back together or is this some kind of misunderstanding, or just a one-shot tour or something?

Doc note, I dissent. A fast never prevents a fatness! I diet on cod.

I'm going to go ahead and state that the Verve are a great band... YEAH, take that. A Storm In Heaven is one of the great Shoegaze records in my opinion, and I even like Urban Hymns... Ouch. Infinitely better than Oasis, i'd rank the 90's brit-pop that crossed over to the U.S. mainstream as follows:

1. Blur
2. The Verve
3. (empty)
4. (empty)
5. Oasis

Oh, and in the year of the comeback, i'm a touch excited about a new album from these fellas. They're huge without resorting to standard U2-isms and act like they're the greatest band on the planet (a requesite for bands like this).

Anything will be better than another Richard Ashcroft solo record.

They headlined the last night of Glastonbury and finished on their new single, 'Love is Noise'

It's great that they are back but they are still in the 90's with that sound. I expected more after ten years break.
