Does anyone know the status of this MIA band? Last I heard they were finishing their album but there's been nothing on their site since June. I thought "Some Cities" was underrated, not their best but a solid effort. Three long years later and I'm in major withdrawal.
Any other Doves-ites on these boards?

I only have The Last Broadcast, which I enjoy, and I count M62 Song among my favorites of all time. Don't know what's going on with them, but they've been gone for long enough that they seem really tied into the sound of the first part of the decade and seem unlikely to make a comeback.

Last Broadcast is pretty awesome. Lost Souls has some great stuff but is more of a mixed bag if you ask me. I haven't heard Some Cities. I'm moving this thread to Alternative since Doves are pretty clearly not indie.

Maybe not but since this is where threads go to die, I figured it was worth a shot. And listen to Some Cities, some of their best songs are on that record: "Black and White Town", "Almost Forgot Myself", and "Walk In Fire".

Great band with a great discography ("Lost Souls" which is my fav , "Last Broadcast" ,"Some Cities" and even their b' sides collection "Lost Sides".No let downs here.Btw,i cant wait to hear their new one in 2009 ,sometime in spring (i hope)...
I have to say this is probably the most challenging Doves release yet. Of course it all SOUNDS nice but I'm having a hard time remembering these songs (something I never had to say about Lost Souls or even Some Cities). Hopefully it'll grow on me, but as of now my favorites are "Winter Hill" and "The Greatest Denier".

Just a fantastic album. They have a song which you can trace their work from Sub Sub. The danciest thing they've done. House of Mirrors is just sensational. The opener, Jetstream is one of the best introductions to an album that I've heard in a long time.
I love all of their previous work as well. And I think they have learnt to edit themselves very well. I found definitely their first two albums had far too many fillers and droney songs.
