A while ago a friend introduced me to a song called Al The Killer… it didn’t take long before I bought Coheed and Cambria, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3.

I really like the noodley guitar and the crisp singing. Of course, I’m really into The Mars Volta so the high pitched voice doesn’t bother me one bit. If Rush were reincarnated into a new band, they might sound a lot like Coheed and Cambria.

Check out some of their tunes...

A Favor House Atlantic

The Crowing

Devil in Jersey City

I work in a record shop. One of the staff played them recently and asked me what I thought.

I don't mean to be funny but they sound incredibly like Megadeth.

I mean that sincerely - I own early Megadeth albums (not easy to admit these days!)

I know what you mean about Rush too.

I saw them live with a friend. It's worth it just to watch Claudio Sanchez wail on his guitar for 20 straight minutes. He has talent.

I think they suck. Not really my type of music, sounds like something I would have maybe enjoyed when I was in middle school. Oh, and please stop comparing This band to Rush if you really like Rush you would never like this lame band that won't be around in about another year or two.

I also see the comparisons with Rush but I never really liked Rush and I rather enjoy Coheed and Cambria.

I agree with the general sentiment so far. I like Coheed and Cambria pretty well, like The Mars Volta, see the Rush comparison, but didnt' really like Rush. I'm not really into straight-up prog. Prog-influenced stuff, though, can be really interesting to me.

Anyone heard the new album, No World For Tomorrow. It's pretty excellent.
