I don't know if I've ever been so excited for an album.
It's going to be completely amazing, I know it.

Icky Thump (the song) was played today on Zane Lowe's show on Radio 1 and on XFM. It is completely amazing. Very different, very heavy. Personally, I am loving it. Cannot wait to hear the whole album. Fact: This song played live will melt faces. Absolutely.

I totally agree.

It just blew me away. I think i've listened to it, maybe, 6 times today already.

The synths are such an interesting choice to accompany the "heavy" guitar and drums.

I'm now terribly excited for the new album.

but... knowing i have to wait until June 19th to hear the rest is killing me!

I heard "Icky Thump" for the first time today on the radio and all I kept thinking was, man, the White Stripes are really freaking good. Its amazing how they keep finding new and intersting ways to write and record songs, yet it always sounds like the White Stripes. Jack White is a damn genius. I can't wait to hear more from this album.

They have one song, and then they find 150 different ways to play it. That's really good.

The following statement is true. The previous statement was false.

Can you elaborate Chamberk? This is one of the few releases I'm looking forward to in the next few months. Is it a return to their De Stijl days as some have suggested, or another strange step forward?

A little of both. There are a couple of songs that would go really well with De Stilj, but they've got songs with horns and pipes all over the place, as well. There's a Patti Page cover that's just awesome (Conquest) and one song that sounds like a Celtic folk song (Prickly Thorn, But Sweetly Worn). Despite the genre hopping there are a couple of really great straight rockers. However, when I look back on it, De Stilj had some really heavy blues elements, and I don't really see them here.

I haven't heard Get Behind Me Satan (beyond the singles) so I can't say how much of an improvement Icky Thump is, but it's definitely a solid album.

It's an absolutely outstanding album for sure. It's surprising and engaging, weird yet accessible, there are beautiful songs and songs that will rattle your teeth and threaten to combust. The sound they achieved is huge on this record. Lyrically, it may be some of Jack's best work.

My Favorites at this moment:
Rag & Bone: Humor meets eccentric ROCK.
Little Cream Soda: Heavy, gritty metal. This one can't be played too loud.
I'm Slowly Turning Into You: That droning organ, those brilliant guitar solos. Need I say more?
Catch Hell Blues: Slippery sliding dirty blues. Death Letter and Little Bird's bastard child.
300 mph Torrential Outpour Blues: A blues groove punctuated by chaotic blasts of beautiful racket.
I'm A Martyr For My Love For You: Heartbreaking, beautiful, unforgettable.

Every track is quality though. Again, a really great record. Cool

the White Stripes are definately one of my favorite bands. They have a really different sound than other alternative bands. It seems like all of the popular alternative bands sound the same (Think Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte, AFI, the new Linkin Park album) Thats why I really like the White Stripes.

P.S. Icky Thump and Rag and Bone rock!

I've really been enjoying the new Stripes album this week. Not sure where I rank it among their other albums, I pretty much take quickly to whatever they release. "I'm Slowly Turning Into You" is my favorite song off the album for today but wait!- here comes "I'm A Martyr For My Love For You" and "Rag & Bone" down the track, they're trying to pass "I'm Slowly Turning Into You", and not far behind this pack is "Little Cream Soda". It's a damn horse race and a fun one at that.
