LOL. Yeah, that's all true, but the time-outs were legit, if anticlimactic. They were part of some kind of feudal code of ethics that were alluded to prior to and (I think) during the duel. Anyway, despite the aformentioned turn-offs, if you've read the books and can appreciate the parallels in style and substance, it helps the enjoyment. I kind of respect how uncompromising the movie is. It's a kids movie that's too dark to be a kids movie, and too inane to capture an adult imagination; but it somehow very nearly succeeds as a slab of uncompromising modern "art". IMO.

It was a pretty good movie for its genre, and the time-outs in battle were something different. Kind of refreshing in a way. http://www.filminsight.netMy website contains many articles just like this one. Analyzing the important life messages presented in our favorite movies. If you'd ever read the book, you'd understand the usage of the time-outs. Or if you'd ever read some medieval European history. Or, go'bless, you'd ever read. You CAN read, right?

*rolls eyes* You can't time-out a bar fight, those are way too chaotic. Large-scale battles are the only things you can really time-out, that and strictly codified personal combat. The last time this happened (that I can pinpoint for certain) was the Christmas truce of 1914. Doesn't really work in modern warfare, after all. Also, if you quote Narnian ethics in the middle of a bar fight, every single person in that bar has the right to beat you into a bloody pulp with pool cues. No exceptions.

um doesn't matter. no more large scale battles to begin with, and fights that happen with guns usually don't last long enough for a time out. but time outs were in the book, and you gotta give them props for at least staying to the book.
