One of the worst 2007 record i've heard last year.
Ohhhhhhh, Burn!!!
For the record I don't care much for that record either.

The only thing worse than a mean-spirited comment is when someone else points it out in glee-- especially if that person is a moderator. I rather liked Emotionalism.

It was a joke, dude. Settle. I guess sarcasm doesn't translate much over forums. I know English isn't Tweedy's first language, and the bluntness and slight awkwardness of his comment made me laugh. I only mentioned not liking the record in an effort not to offend Tweedy.

Nothing major. Your English is quite good. You don't need to worry about it. There are just some subtleties that second-language English speakers lack. Of course I only speak one language, so you've got me (and probably just about everyone else here) beat on that front.

I'm not saying that it all sucks, I don't think that I would go that far. I mean "Sky Blue Sky" was extremely average, YHF is an above average album, but with the exception of "Jesus, Etc." I don't really love any other songs on it, and I really hate "A Ghost Is Born".
I also really love Uncle Tupelo, so I guess I kinda wish Tweedy had stuck with UT, since I like their stuff so much better.
But to each his own...
It ain't hallelujah, but it might as well have been.

ok. Well, your the first person i read which his fav Wilco record is A.M. I like Uncle Tupelo, but i prefer Wilco a lot more. And why do you hate A Ghost is born? Is it O'Rourke's production or the mellow songs?
I think that it's the production that bothers me. I really think that it gets in the way of the songs and it is such a drastic movement away from the Americana sound that I grew to love. Granted YHF was also not an Americana album, but the songs were good enough and the production was tolerable enough for that album to be above average in my book.
Do you dislike the entire Avett Brothers catalog or just "Emotionalism"?

I think that the production on A Ghost is born is just perfect. It's really foggy and intimate. It's the less "country" Wilco record, that's probably why you had some difficulties.
I only heard Emotionalism. I didn't know the existence of that band before. I mean, each song sounded the same, and the drummer is absent. Is there a drummer in that band? Anyway it sucks

No there actually isn't a drummer in the band. Any drumming is done by Scott Avett whilst playing guitar and singing.
"A Carolina Jubilee" is probably my favorite album of theirs, it is a little bit more raw and less pop oriented.

how about...The Snake, The Cross, The Crown? Can't say enough about, Cotton Teeth.
I hate the production of A Ghost is Born as well. The sound mix is so annoying with the loud/soft shit that O'Rourke and Tweedy cooked up. Also, if you look at the band lineup for the record, it is their worst incarnation, because there is no Jay Bennett leftovers (like on YHF) and no Nels Cline yet. It's like Tweedy in his oxycontin state decided to mute the sound occasionally and then solo like a madman to break out of the muted silence him and O'Rourke created. Overall, their 2nd worst album behind A.M. and chronically overrated by some on this board (looking at you eggtweedyegg). "I'm a Wheel" is awful, "Handshake Drugs", while good, goes on too long with a repetitive bassline, "Hummingbird", while fun in concert is such a Beatles biting ploy it's disgusting, "Less than you think" is garbage. Wow, you ate a bunch of drugs and let a noise drone on for 10+ mins, so artsy! I will attest that "Muzzle of Bees" is an overlooked gem of a song.

Indeed! I still can't decide for sure which album was my favorite from 2007, but this one is a top-3 album for sure.
I haven't really given much time to A Ghost Is Born but I remember listening to it twice a couple years ago and not really liking it much.
