i was listening to 13 cities (their latest release), today and its such an amazing album. I think they are a great band, really underated and often passed by when discussing americana.
The only Richmond Fontaine I've heard is Miles From which I like (though haven't heard in a long time). I recall a Jay Farrar vocal thing, maybe I'm mistaken. How's the new album compare to that old one?

the first 3 albums were a lot more rock, they've mellowed (in a good way) more folk, the new album was recorded in Tucson, Arizona with some help from Calexico, Richard Buckner. You can almost feel the desert sand in there. The lyrics are as good as ever.
I really don't like 13 Cities much, but I'm a big fan of Post to Wire and The Fitzgerald. Winemucca's a good one as well. Lost Son is kind of hit-or-miss for me, and I've never heard anything of theirs from before that album.

i dont know how you can love The Fitzgerald and not 13 Cities but hey! your not surprising me anymore!!!
Yeah. I'm not a real deep thinker these days, so I don't even try to figure out why I like some stuff and not others, but while The Fitzgerald sounds heartfelt and heartbreaking to me, 13 Cities just sounds boring.

13 cities sure sound heartbraking to me, he's like a singing Raymond Carver.
