I should have guessed you'd be dropping by before too long, OldSchoolJazz. Of the three boards I've seen you spam so far, Organissimo was far more convincing than Jazz Corner, and All About Jazz, or your message here.
Sorry to say, nothing to see here folks. Matt Dusk is a young singer with a fair set of pipes. He built a pretty fair rep before this album, which is a train wreck of ham-fisted production and a craven appeal to the worst of what the big labels think the public wants.
If Harry Connick, Jr. and Norah Jones are your cup of tea, but they're not releasing albums quickly enough to suit your need, check out Jamie Cullum's Twentysomething, which may not be the most inspired jazz-influenced release of the year, but is preferable to the Matt Dusk in the same way that settling for a bottled beer over a draft is preferable to gargling with Drano.

LT, you probably know that jazz isn't my forte. But I have seen a gazillion old films, and my father played trumpet and cornet when he wasn't trying to earn a living during the Depresion as a pool player and I listened to him play jazz and love jazz. LT, my entire family plays instruments and it embarrasses me when I acknowledge that I don't, and my wife , who plays at least five instruments, says that I know a gazillion times more about music than she does, EDIT, EDIT. (Don't listen to the BS, BS, BS)

Do you guys realize that Matt Dusk is on the reality show "The Casino" on Fox (Monday nights)?? He's the featured lounge singer at the Golden Nuggest in Vegas. Seems like a cool guy.

Thanks, KT. I don't think we'll hear from OldScoolJazz again. The M.O. is to join the board, spam, and never post again. I really appreciate the fact, though, that it's not something you will stand for on this message board. With the number of bands forming "street teams" right now, I suspect we're going to be seeing more and more of this for a while.
One more thing, did you see my inquiry as to whether this software will allow for private messaging? It sounds like mark needs a couple of jazz CD compilations and I need his address.
Thanks!

I'm not sure if there is a private message fuunction. There does some to be a private "chat" function which is most likely disabled right now.
I asked the Music Editor, since he's the one who knows the most about the forum software and he is going to look into it and see what he can come up with. I'll find your other inquiry and reply to you there as soon as you know anything. It definitely would be nice to allow members to exchange personal info if they wish without having to post it in public or use various roundabout methods.
Sorry about the controversy this post has provoked in your community. I am simply trying to inform you about an artist I truly believe in. I will admit that I am not too savy on jazz music as some of you are, but what I do know is that Matt's sound reminds me of jazz-ish music.
I would believe you if you didn't, as LinnTate pointed out, go to message boards all over the internet and post about Matt Dusk, openly referencing your internship at Universal and trying to get people to join the "online street team" which you yourself are probably a part of, since it seems to be some abhorrent new practice in which the record label rewards ordinary people for spamming the internet with ads for their artist.
If you really want to talk about Matt Dusk, fine. Discuss his actual music in a meaningful way. And while you're here you may want to actually check out the forums, there are some interesting other things to talk about here too.
