I was intrigued by a review of this album on pitchfork but it doesnt seem to exist anywhere. Not on metacritic or even the "buy it from insound" link within the article. does anyone know when this album will be released if it hasnt been already? Also i wonder if anyone out there can provide some insight into Shipps parallels with debussy and thelonius.

Its release date was today (01/31/06), so it may not have entered the databases when you checked. Try it again and I'm sure you'll find it as I've seen it in the B&N listings.
As for parallels to Debussy and Monk, there are certainly few contemporary pianists who don't show their influence. While I've not yet listened to Shipp's latest, I'm taking Matthew Murphy's Pitchfork review with at least a grain of salt especially given All Music's review of the same album courtesy of the sometimes factually impaired Tom Jurek. I wonder who's cribbing who.
I've found a more reliable source for the jazz and improvised music scene to be One Final Note, which has a decidedly different take on the album.
If you want a good place to start with Shipp without delving into his more genre-bending work, Pastoral Composure is a good point of departure.
