I noticed the thread about A Love Supreme, but I didn't see any other threads dedicated to Coltrane in general.
Personally, Lush Life and Giant Steps are my favorites, but A Love Supreme is brilliant too. I have his set at The Avant-Garde with Don Cherry and it's pretty ace as well.
it usually depends on the time of day for me: in the morning, i like Giant Steps and late at night, Coltrane for Lovers. But mainly, A Love Supreme rules all
Mix a little folly with your plans: It is sweet to be silly at the right moment.
To run into the shadows, try ' Coltrane's Sound' or ' Coltrane Plays the Blues.

I've been reading this book by Ashley Kahn on the making of A Love Supreme. Quite a few people seem to like his slightly earlier album Crescent even better, and it's in the same era as A Love Supreme. I'm definitely going to have to check that one out.
