Not sure what's going on, but there is a message on Stylus' website indicating that on Oct. 31st the site will stop publishing. And I quote: Yes, it’s true. Stylus will no longer be publishing after October 31. Stay tuned next week for some special programming.

Stylus was one my top 3 review sources. Frowner

Todd Burns (the editor) has decided he wants his life back. He's made a lot of sacrifices.

Stay tuned for next week though, we'll be going out in style!

This sux! I depend on Stylus for bringing my attention to new metal bands, because it's one of the few sites that actually covers it.

I can definitely understand that, but there's no one else willing to take his editorial spot? It seems to me like Stylus is a pretty popular and well-respected webzine. If I was the founder/editor of a popular webzine (or magazine for that matter) I would want to find someone to take my place if and when I decide to hang it up. Perhaps it was also a financial drain as well. Oh well.

He's ending the website just like that? I barely read publication websites but checking it out, it's very solid.

It could probably find itself a buyer as the website could fetch at least $50k if not more. More then 30K backlinks and an Alexa under 50K.

It probably would really tick off fans to sell something cool but just to end something like that would suck.

I just saw it this morning. I'm definitely going to make sure I read it before Halloween. Gotta love the Entombed reference.

It's his baby. He doesn't want to give it away. Which is disappointing, but understandable. Several of our writers have moved on to P4k, DrownedInSound, LostAtSea and other metacritic-sites, but there's been plenty discussions about a new site to replace it, and there *may* be some kind of reunion in 2008.

What about the year-end round up? This is a preposterous time to hang it up. I always loved stylus' lists for best albums and singles. This is really unbelievable, and a complete shame.

Mulholland Drive took the #1 spot... Nice! Every morning I wake up and take a journey to Stylus and that journey is going to stop. Thank you for creating one of the greatest sites on the web.

Yeah! How could it NOT be #1?! But anyway, it was a really great list.

The year-end movie list was also pretty good, even though I imagine it would be CONSIDERABLY different had it included several films of the upcoming fall/early winter season.

What if Hollywood goes on strike? (It really might happen) Will any of those films be affected?

Holywood is not going on strike. The writers are (or may). Any movie that is already in the can should be fine.
