Their highest rating each year has gone down from 9.7 in '04 (Arcade Fire) to 9.5 in '05 (Kanye) to 9.4 in '06 (Joanna Newsom/Hold Steady) we know they've already given a 9.4 this year, kind of early, even, so maybe they'll swing back up?
What is there coming out that they could 10-ify? The new Animal Collective is solid, but I don't see them liking it more than Person Pitch. Maybe the new Radiohead, but again, that depends.

Interpol just got a 6.0. Oh well.
But it isn't a terrible year for them either though. Cases in point: Arvcade Fire, Modest Mouse, LCD Soundsystem.

I hope it's good. I really like certain songs from their frist three or so albums, but I wasn't really a Fan until Black Sheep Boy. I'd be hella happy if they pull off something along those lines, but if they make another quantum leap, my pants might get soiled.
y basis for thinking that strawberry jam will get a 10 is that its freakin' wicked.
Strawberry Jam is a great record, but definitely not a 10. It seems from their track record that Pitchfork only awards 10's to "best-of-decade" albums. As much as I like the album, a 10.0 is a real fucking stretch.

They wouldn't give a 10 to a guy that was on the OC Soundtrack I don't think.

Haha that's something I didn't consider. You're probably right, brother.
With respect to the "best of decade" comment: is it the music itself that makes an album fall into that cateogry, or is it the ratings from the critics...
at this point in music history, if pitchfork gives a 10 to an album (whether it deserves it or not) that album will become a classic.

Pitchfork has given 10's to albums that didn't go on to become classics. Nonetheless, if they give a 10 to an album, it will probably reflect it's high quality, as opposed to some weird desire to piss you off.
This is all based on gut feeling (as I haven't heard ANYTHING new from them), but something tells me the new Wolf Parade is going to be killer. Maybe not a 10, but I can see P4K giving them in the 9's if that's the case. Again, just a gut feeling, but I think they're going to wow everybody once again.
Is it possible that a new Wolf Parade single is out on the airwaves? Recently, I thought I heard a song of theirs I hadn't heard before, and it kicked ass. But I didn't corroborate my hunch that it was wolf parade, so I could just be nuts.
