I bet they regret giving the Trail of Dead album a 10.0
I might give Source Tags & Codes a 10.0 actually. Definitely a 9.5. It's an extremely good album, and probably the best thing to come out of that style (I think) since pre-major label Sonic Youth.

So what? Last year an album with a score of 86 landed at the top of their list, beating out albums with 91s and 94s. Stop try and figuring it out , start enjoying the music.

I do enjoy the music. It's just not totally irelevant. There are so many albums out there that you simply don't have the time to listen to all of them. So you have to select, based on the reviews mainly. I would have never given a chance to Source Tags and Cods if not for that 10 review.

So, if they only gave it a 9.5, you wouldn't have bought it?

9.5 yes, 8.5 I don't think so. I got into indie at the end of 2005 and I wouldn't have given attention to a 8.5 album 3 years old.

look mihai, i love source tags and codes as much as you do. but let's end this discussion on that record. after all, this is going to be a pretty fantastic month for music.

Here is how it will go down at the P4K:

LCD Soundsystem/ Sound of Silver: 97
Timbaland/ Shock Value: 91
Panda Bear/ Person Pitch: 89
Modest Mouse/ We Were Dead...:73

Come to think about it, this could very well surpass November 1991 as the BEST MONTH EVER in the music world

So this are your estimates on how Pitchfork will rate those albums? Hmm, that will be something a 97 for LCD Soundsystem.

Well, 9.2 for LCD Soundsystem. And 1.0 (looks like a 10 almost) for The Stooges. Anyone running out to get that one?

Sometimes I wonder - they gave Good News a 7.9 and then they gave We Were Dead a 7.8 and also the "recommended" tag. But, what accounts for that .1 drop-off? Why not just round up and give both albums an 8?

I'm wondering what they'll think of Andrew Bird. This week is pretty chock-ful of huge releases, I guess they're doing one big release each day, perhaps?

That appears to be the peak for this year, so far, but I'm curious to see what Panda Bear will score. I imagine something in the same ballpark.

The only band who I think will score high enough this year to reach a 10.0 is Radiohead, we all know how much Pitchfork loves those guys.

yea..im not too sure about radiohead's lp7 getting that 10.0 this year. it also seems like pitchfork likes to take into account context leading up to an albums release, in addition to the music itself in factoring a 10. perfect examples being YHF (wilco was rejected by a major label), source tags & codes (trail of deads major label debut), kid a (radioheads succesful attempt at following up to OKC) the list goes on...

just found out that daydream nation is being re-released in june. im gonna go ahead and say that if that re-release doesnt get a 10, nothing this year will. pitchfork named it the best album of the 80's after all.

He totally jinxed it.
I want to be the first to say that Mr. Lennox earned a 94.
