Eeker Eeker I love Stadium... but that's just silly.

given all the different thinking on these albums I'd guess all ratings are just oppinion... (although Q's is often wildly wrong)

as for the verve comment, i'm insulted you'd even consider suggesting that. I challenge you to pistols at dawn, or similar, maybe a game of battleships?

Hmm... Room On Fire is a good album, but it's not a classic, even in the wildest dreams of the most rabid of Strokes fans.

Use Your Illusion II? Mediocre, bloated, self-important.

Fat Of The Land - Nowhere near as good as "Jilted Generation". As for The Verve, I'd easily take A Northern Soul over this, but I don't understand the comparison.

Be Here Now. 5 stars? Surely even swallowing a litre of bleach wouldn't warp someone's mind so badly so as to confuse them into thinking this album approached genius. 2 stars at best.

Maybe it's just me, but top marks are given out far too often by certain magazines/websites. Some of the albums Q gave 5 stars (X&Y, Stadium Arcadium, Razorlight?!) illustrates this perfectly. The more often top marks are dished out, the more meaningless it becomes. 5 stars should be reserved for truly extraordinary works. None of these albums comes even close to that level.

Personally, I'd give RoF 4 stars. Also, they gave The General Electric (by Shihad) 3 stars. Q Magazine expect me to believe that Razorshite, the Chilis, Quoasis and Keane are better than the almighty 'Had? BS!

"Q magazine is utterly irrelevant. I used to buy it religiously. Now I don't even flick through its pages in Tesco every month. The reviews are so predictable. Coldplay would have got 5 stars if they'd released an album of Chris Martin making sounds by molesting goats."

OMFG - exactly what I think.

PS. It's = It is, as in It is NOT used in the possessive sense!

there are alternatives... uncut for example seem to put some thought in their reviews... I may be proven wrong...

I find Q is like your dad trying to be hip or a clueless teenage trying to fit with the hip music lovers...

I am in the camp that believes that Room On Fire is an excellent album, but 5 Stars? Not quite.

I used to buy Q magazine, it was British and pretty thick for a 'zine. Usually had some good interviews and sometimes a free cd. I'm always suckered in by a free cd.
