I just bookmarked DoA purely on the strength of that list. Any list that tosses in Margot and the Nuclear So and So's is good in my book. I liked the inclusion of Lambchop, Field Music, Owen, and the Long Winters. That list also reminded me that the new Calexico record, which doesn't sound like the Calexico of old, was a really nice alt-country record.

I'll make visiting DoA a regular stop from now on.

I went through all the individual lists and got a few ideas for new stuff to check out. That's more than I can say for just about any other year-end list I've seen.

Awesome. That's the best thing I can say about a year end list, that it makes me go back and check out some records that I might have otherwise missed. Most of the sites or magazines that I read on a regular basis had at least one or two things that I ended up checking out after seeing their year end lists.

Interesting list. I love the inclusions of The Long Winters and Margot... They're two that are on my list, but ones I haven't really seen much on any others.

It's been emotional.

jb...

You write for DoA, right?

Which one is your list, out of curiosity? Your taste and mine are probably polar opposites, but I'm still interested in what you loves in 2006.

That seems right, given the things he says about Joanna Newsom. I'll wait for confirmation.

Yeah unfortunately no Grizzly Bear. Although I didn't have that record in my personal year end list either, I was expecting it to pop up somewhere on the overall staff list and there simply weren't enough votes. Great record though.

By the way, in case anyone thinks I'm being mean, that's a UHF reference.

ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE!!!!
That's mad dope. I have a special bond with AMT. My first date with my year-and-a-half long girlfriend was at an Acid Mothers Temple concert. Plus, they're the only band I've seen to not only have XXL shirts, but to not charge extra for them (I'm 6'7, big shoulders).

Just wanted to say I enjoyed JGlass's review of Epo-555's album, Mafia. It intrigued me enough that I've hunted it down and will listen to it as soo as I get the chance.
