That is a cool book. The guy who wrote it was on "Cold Pizza" sometime last week and he made brackets for everything from like best director, best movie of all time, best album of all time, etc. It is a neat thing to determine everything by brackets, if only college football had something similar...

Pod 1: Source Tags and Codes-While I love Yoshimi..., I've only ever briefly listened to Soft Bulletin, and wasn't largely impressed (I'm not sure how fair of a shot I've given it though). ST&C is one of my favorite albums at the moment (I could probably listen to How Near How Far on repeat for days) and would probably win out over all the other pods as well.
Pod 2: OK Computer-Never heard Bricolage. OK Computer, along with The Bends, give Radiohead two of the spots in my top 5 favorite albums of all time. Pretty easy choice here.
Pod 3: I See a Darkness-God, this is by far the hardest one. Admittedly, while I do love some of the songs on YHF, I've only rarely listened to the whole album. As far as individual songs on the CD's go, Jesus, Etc... beats out anything on Darkness, but the album as a whole wins out. I just love the mood of this CD.
Pod 4: Kid A-Haven't heard of the contender before. While Kid A does win out, I would like to say that I think it would lose in any other pod. For some reason I was just never able to get into this album though I've tried my best (because everyone seems to adore it). Maybe it was the fact that I felt betrayed by the sound, being a huge The Bends and OK Computer fan and all. Anyways, I'm sure I'll give it more chances in the future.

Pod 1: Source Tags and Codes - Neither lights my world on fire, but I like ST&C slightly better.
Pod 2: Bricolage - I don't like Radiohead. In fact I dispise them and Amon Tobin is alright. So he wins.
Pod 3:
I See A Darkness - I love both of these albums, but Will Oldham wins (just barely) because it is a better album from beginning to end. Both albums have one of my favorite songs of all time ("I See A Darkness" and "Jesus, Etc.") and both were in other awesome bands (Palace v. Uncle Tupelo). I wish one of these was matched against Radiohead instead of each other, but alas no luck.
Pod 4: "El Producto" - Never heard it, but I am in a Radiohead hating mood...
I never hated any of you/I loved you all at the time

i haven't heard "el producto", but there must be a reason why, also its beyond me how "source, tags, and codes" got a 10. its decent, but i never want to listen to it

Pod 1: ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead - Source Tags & Codes Vs. Flaming Lips - Soft Bulletin
Pod 2: Radiohead - OK computer Vs. Amon Tobin - Bricolage
Pod 3: Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Vs. Bonnie "Prince" Billy - I See a Darkness
Pod 4: Radiohead - Kid A Vs. Walt Mink - El Producto
1: Soft Bulletin. Enjoyed Source Tags a bit, but not enough to be anywhere near SB.
2: OK Computer. It's just that great. Amon Tobin is also one of my favourite artists, but OKC is OKC.. if ya know what I mean.
3: This is actually by far the hardest. I love both albums, YHF has been a long time favourite, but I've recently really gotten into I See A Darkness and listened to YHF less, plus YHF gets undue attention because of its release. I think I'll pick I See A Darkness, at least today.
4: I haven't heard the Walt Mink, so I'll go Radiohead.
Overall for me OKC would win (against I See A Darkness)
soft bulletin barely wins it all. btw, none of these albums deserve 10.0, and, as i find radiohead very overrated, neither of their albums here even deserve 9.0
I like STaC, but I don't see how it deserves a 10. It's a great rock album with some really interesting ideas, but it's not perfect as a 10 would suggest. On the other hand, Soft Bulletin is a 10 in every way. I'm a huge Flaming Lips fan, and Soft Bulletin is their crowning achievement.
Pod 2 -Ok Computer vs. Bricolage
Hm. I've never heard Bricolage, but I don't like Radiohead. So, I've decided to editorialize. American Water, by the Silver Jews got a 9.9 when it was first released, so I'm going to cheat a little and put this in rather than Bricolage.
Pod 2 - Ok Computer vs. American Water
Unpopular opinion - American Water destroys Ok Computer in every way. Great lyrics, fantastic musicianship, and perfect songs (I'm kind of a Silver Jews fan girl).
Pod 3 - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot vs. I See a Darkness
This is a tough one. Both are ridiculously consistent albums, but I've had Yankee Hotel Foxtrot longer, and have listened to it more, giving Wilco an unfair advantage. I love both, but Yankee Hotel Foxtrot just barely edges this out.
Pod 4 - Kid A vs. El Producto
Same situation as Pod 2. I don't like Radiohead, but I've never heard El Producto. So, Bjork's Homogenic got a 9.9 and it will be substituted for El Producto.
Pod 4 - Kid A vs. Homogenic
Huh. In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have switched El Producto and Homogenic. I'm not a big Bjork fan, but I can appreciate Homogenic. Same goes for Kid A. I don't listened to either of them very frequently, but in the end Bjork walks away with this one.

Semi-Finals - Round 1 Soft Bulletin vs. American Water
As much as I love the Flaming Lips, I don't listen to Soft Bulletin very frequently. It's a great album, but you don't listen to it a lot. On the other hand, American Water is usually in the backburner of my CD rotation. I love and listen to it very frequently, so American Water wins this one.
Semi Finals - Round 2 Yankee Hotel Foxtrot vs. Homogenic
Easy. I respect Homogenic more than I like, but I respect and adore Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Both are inventive, origianl albums, Homogenic possibly more than YHF, but I like YHF more. So Wilco win.
Final Round - American Water vs. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Wow. Didn't expect to see this at the end. This is definetly the tougest decision in the pods. Okay, in lyrics American Water definetly takes this one. Songwriting... Ugh! I can't do this. I love both these albums and have decided to declare it...
A TIE! (Going to YHF on the technicality that American Water probably shouldn't have even been competing)

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't like the Soft Bulletin. At all. That album killed my interest in the Flaming Lips, although they are a lot of fun live.
