It's been a ritual that I've always had since I was a kid. Everytime I would get a new game, bought or rented, I would put my contoller down and let the pre game show begin. I guess it was like an introduction to an adventure I had ahead. I was wondering if anybody had any favorites that they liked.

My favorites would probably be:
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty-the music, art direction, text animations, and certain cutscenes, was put together so well it would put me in a frenzy to play as a femine character.

Rainbow 6 (the original)-That's really old but I remember watching it over and over when I was a kid. "Code name is...Rainbow" (I laughed at that so many times)

Dead or Alive: Extreame Beach Volleyball-Say what you want about the game, but that intro is freakn awesome, the music's really catchy too. "I'm so crazy for youuuuuououo, R U crazy bout....me na na na nanna na na."

SSX3- I just picked up a used copy two days ago and I've never played an SSX. The radio announcer talking about how the peeks were looking clean, and some with avalanche warnings, it was like a small tour of the whole mountain which gave you a taste of snowboard heaven. Also the screenshots and broadcasting presentation is perfect.

In second place:
NFL Fever 2000
Crimsion Skies:HighRoadToRevenge

Soldier of Fortune 2 had good intro with all the news reports etc...good way to get you engrossed into the game from the start.

Max Payne2, applies to the whole game, but loved the comic book 'noir' style to it all. Was different to alot of games.

Nothing else springs to mind other than the fact i despise EA games becuase you can never seem to jump that annoying 'EA Games, Challenege Everything' bit and it really winds me up!

HAHAHA I have that ritual of not pressing any buttons on the menu when you first buy a game a watch the intro too but as too the question, the metal gear solids have good intros but everyone knows that. Resident evil four had some real good intro movies, specially after you beat the game, I liked the mechassault one not because the were actually good but just cause I love giant robots. I'll just sum up all the tom clancy games as having good intro movies cause well.. they do. I liked the onimusha intros, with the giant graphic battles, and arrows going through peoples necks. So yeah thats my 'tribution cause I can't think of anything else. Damn I'm unoriginal

I have that same ritual. Ever since I could remember i've never started a game without watching the intro.

My fav. intro would probably have to be the battle between Squall and Seipher in FFVIII...oh I guess that's not really an intro since you have to hit the 'New Game' option, huh? my bad. Then i'd probably have to say Crono Cross, I guess.

I think Star Ocean 3 had a good opening scene.....so far its about the only thing I liked since I can hardly force myself to play it anymore.

I also think Xenosaga had a pretty long one and a lot of cut scenes it seems.

the new kingdom hearts just came out and I thought that was a pretty sweet opening seen! Also someone said that chaos theory had a good opening seen. Well it was good at first but if you didn't play the game again for a day you'd have to watch it again and it was sooooo bleeding long. I must have watched that movie a hundred times!

Yeah what the hell was that all about? I was like, "Damnit just let play the game already," I guess it was Ubisofts way of punishing gamers from playing other games.
A Bit off Topic
It's like dating a super jealous girl or something, and your walking together in the mall and if you even look towards another girl, she gets all pissy, and is like, "WTH, now I'm just gonna be self centered and stuck-up," and then your're like, "OMG, wth, stop doing this, hurry up I just need to game with other girls sometimes," and then you start crying, because she won't listen and she keeps running her same intro movie over and over again, until you finally wait it out, and then you can game with her again.

I like the opening movie from Metal Gear Solid 3, it's the one which like James Bond opening movie, so professional and showing certain class, combined with the music played, it's like putting the game soul in it. I hope it will be the trademark of future MGS series. Wink

Super Smash Bros. Melee I think has a great opening movie. Also, when I was younger, it may seem cheesy now, but I was amazed when I saw the opening movie to Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast. It blew me away!

Now for the sh**ty movie...

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2- The Sith Lords had a terrible opening movie sequence. That cheesy dude came in and made it sound like a movie advertisement while you're at the theaters. The script and dialogue was to corny and cliché.
