The Sony site seems to actually remember me and logs me in automatically. I just signed up so I could download some game trailers.
I'm actually downloading a new update as I type. And this one I'm TRULY excited about! It contains the "Resume Play" feature! That was ONE BIG complaint I had about the system and they're fixing it with an update. How about that?
What is "Resume Play"? Well for those who don't know (hey, my wife sure didn't), it's when you can stop a Blu-ray or DVD (even take it out) and then replay it right where it left off!
These are the features downloading RIGHT NOW: BD-Live (Profile v2.0) Upgrade "Resume play" will enable PS3 system to start playing a Blu-ray disc and DVD at the point it was stopped, even if the disc had been removed. "Audio Output Device" will be a new Remote Play setting, enabling PSP to serve as a remote control for music played through PS3. PS3 system's Internet browser will be enhanced: Video files directly linked from a Web page will be able to be streamed, and the browser's view speed will be improved. DivX and WMV format videos that are larger than 2GB will be playable. "Mosquito Noise Reduction" will be added as an AV setting in the control panel of the DVD/BD player for improved movie playback.

Sure, I might offend a few of the blue-noses with my cocky stride and musky odor - oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called 'City Fathers' who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about what's to be done with this Monkey_Boy?!"

I like the resume play on my mac. It's nice to see them adding new features indeed, not just bug fixes. Read the upgrade list of changes the other day, actually it says "- Files that are 2GB or more cannot be played". Still glad to see improvements none the less.
Been researching the battery a bit more. I downloaded two Sony manuals (PDFs) and one of them shows how to disassemble the controller in order to dispose of the battery properly. Thing is if you reverse this process one could swap it out. Trick now is finding a suitable replacement. Not sure yet if it's some off the shelf battery or not. I'm sure someone will sort it out. Still think it's a bad design, but at least they did not solder the battery to the pc board like Apple does.

Well, I got my info from the Blu-ray.com website and they're usually on the up and up. Personally, it's not a big deal for me, but it certainly could be a problem for some, I suppose.

According to one of my boys, Sony will morethanlikely replace it without a fuss. That's when you'll haveta have 2 controllers, though, because you'll have to send in your old one for them to replace the battery. Perfect? No, but you won't have to spend 60 bucks or so for a new one! Isn't doing that once every 2 years less of a hassle than buying a new one? I'm pretty sure you'll have to pay for the battery, but I doubt it'll be as much as a new controller.
