how do you guys react to violent games? Do you APPROVE or are you all complete HATERS?
Im somewhere in the middle.Well,on second thought i personally feel game violance is an aspect of gaming and life that is important and adds to the realism.
To be honest, I think that game censorship organisations tend to be a bit too prudish when it comes to "adult" content (violence, sex etc.). I guess there are reasons for that: Wanting to sell games to a wider audience (including gamers who are less 18 years old), not wanting to alienate certain big-name retailers (such as the ever-conservative Walmart).
The one exception I can think of would be Manhunt, which sounds so violent that even I wouldn't be interested in playing it (it would, however, be a bit silly to ban it outright, as quite a few countries have).
Video game violence doesn't tend to bother me. It's rare for it to be realistic enough to be disturbing. Compared to many movies, Grand Theft Auto is just good, wholesome fun.

Yeah, I tend to agree. I have yet to find a game, however violent, that it is realistic enough to be seriously troubling, although games are getting kind of close. Still, I think you play at your own will, you can chose what to play and whether or not you can deal with the content. As far as parents go: they need to be aware of what kind of games they are buying for their children, that's just common sense.

As long as the appropriate warning is present there's no reason to ban any game. No sane adult has such a fragile grip on reality that a video game would make him dangerous to society.
Kids are a different story. But if a parent doesn't want his or her child to be exposed to violence, sex, profanity or whatever, then that is the parent's responsibility.
If anything, online multiplayer games are more damaging to kids than violence. I think all online multiplayer games should have 'Mature' ratings on them. Even if it's a Sponge Bob Squarepants MMORPG, no kid under 17 or 18 should be allowed to interact with strangers over the internet.
