Hi there!

My family is within a few months of becoming gameplayers (kids 3, 5 and 7) and will begin shopping for a gaming console. The older boys show prowess with an old N64 and simpler games on their PC (like Dungeon Siege) but I'd like to expand.

To foster family loyalty and that old team spirit, I'd like to concentrate on multiplayer cooperative games in the Everyone to Teen ratings. Recommendations for best games or best system supporting more multiplayer cooperative games would be much appreciated.

Out of simple Pc games and N64 It would be....

PC

(1)Diablo 2(It isnt satanic, and I'd say suitable for kids, Online co op is great) (2)War Craft games (3)Arcanum isnt co op but its great fun, unlimited things to do...also (4) Fall Out 2-Not Co Op but its simple graphics, handled by all computers, and is the best game ever!!!!!!!

N64

(1)Perfect Dark, along with 007 Golden Eye, great bot Co Op. Best Co Op on 64......might I suggest Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time (a must have)

Over all though if money is the issue, start with the n64 and pc games, work up to ps2, gc, and xbox getting games like Phantasy Star Online, Morrowind, Baulders Gate 1&2, Final Fantasy X/X2/ and 11. Metal gear solid: sub. and snake eater, Medal of Honor: front line, Castle Vania, and of course the new fable........Really you just cant go wrong with any system, so i got all 7 with over 500 games (never bored) E-mail me at khammetallica@aol.com if you got q's

Get a Gamecube and let them go to town with Mario Kart: Double Dash and Super Smash Bros.

These are awesome games, perfect for kids.

The Gamecube has many other multi-player games, and is generally a lot more child-friendly than the Xbox or PS2.

I agree with PoorMojo Gamecube is more kid oriented. Playstation and Xbox have more violent games. Gamecube is great for kids. Here are a couple of game suggestions
Racing: Crash Nitro Cart and F-Zero GX
Adventure:Anything Mario
Sports: Anything other than NFL Blitz, NHL Hitz, and MLB slugfest
Goodluck

Why are you suggesting first person shooters to children under the age of ten. I think she wants child friendly.

Hi,

It seems I am about a year late with the answer, but maybe my suggestion might still help new readers of the threat.

In response to the particular question to foster "loyalty" and "team spirit" and "multiplayer cooperative" games I would go with the gamecube and any of the titles of this website:
http://cube.ign.com/articles/427/427505p1.html

A title that is missing is "Gauntlet: Dark Alliance"

By the way, the good thing about Gauntlet is that it is 4-player co-op! I've heard X-Men legends is similar, but I haven't been able to play it yet
