One idea I would love to see tried would be the persistent-world wargame... i.e. a game with a huge map or a collection of linked sub maps, with a front line or some-such. I've seen this idea elsewhere, and it sounds great. I imagine there would be a massive host of technical issues and so forth, but come on! Its 2008 The nearest I've seen are clan-organized 'metamaps' and the small-scale and rarely used Hydro map(s) from TF2 or the front lines of the guildwars faction wars. Something like that but on a grander scale is the sort of thing I'm thinking. Or like BF2/2142 maps but with a meta-map inbetween.
I guess the idea of a presistent world with lot of scope for locations and a sense of 'progress' is what I'm after. (btw, if it already exists, let me know!)
