My favorite was the original Simpson’s Arcade game. I can’t remember what the exact title was, but it was a side scrolling double dragon styled game and you could choose Homer, Marge, Bart or Lisa, and they were all super hero versions of them selves. I remember that Bart was Bart Man, and used his skateboard as his weapon, and I think the object of the game was to save Maggie. I’d love to find a freeware version of it online, but I’ve never been able to.
Street Fighter II was always awesome, but I could never master the controls on the arcade machine, though I still always loved it, but couldn’t really enjoy it because I’d always get my ass handed to me, that is, until it came to the SNES! When I could finally unleash the true Street Fighter within! B)
Some other awesome games that come to mind were: Fatal Fury, Final Fight, and Daytona USA. I also remember the Golden Axe.
If you loved Street Fighter, you should check out
Street Fighter: The Later Years. If you haven’t seen it already, it’s a 9 part comedy series about all the original Street Fighter II characters dealing with life as has-beens. Zangief and Dhalsim join forces to start another tournament so they can quit working crappy jobs.
