Hi, I am visiting friends in the U.S. ,but I live in the U.K. and I have bought a gamecube in the states, does anybody know if I will be able to play games from the uk on an american gamecube? I know that on earlier consoles you couldn't play imported games on consoles from a different country and was wondering if it is still the same deal now.
uh-oh... I'm not sure, but you'll definitely have a problem when you bring that cube back to the UK - USA uses NTSC (a universal TV format) and Europe uses PAL, so it's likely they'll be incompatible video signals. As for the games, that's a good question. Search google for "gamecube region compatibility" or something. chances are, you probably can't...

The console will most likely have to be chipped in some way in order to play games from all regions. Beware! this is illegal in some countries and you'll loose the warranty.

Thanks for the replys guys, I've done some research, and, although I could play foreign games on the american cube (with such programs as freeloader), after visiting the nintendo website I found out that an american cube will not work in the uk - the ntsc/pal thing being one of - but no the only factor.
Oh well..
Thanks again for the replys and I hope this info might help anyone else in my position.
