I kinda felt that i should put out my opinion of the top ten RPG's for the PSX released to start random discussion. anyways, my top 10 RPG's for the PSX are:

1. Final Fantasy VIII.
third best storyline in the series, best gameplay of the series, very memorable characters and limit breaks. even a very difficult final boss. this game had almost everything i looked for in an RPG, everything about it was fantastic.

2. Breath of Fire III
VERY unique game, gameplay was amazing, musical score was astounding from the world theme to the Junk Town song, even the Dragon Gene system was incredible with how you can set up your main character (or sometimes your entire party) with over thousands of different combinations of Genes. Classic RPG, best of the series, and my second favorite ever.

3. Final Fantasy Tactics
Musical score has yet to be topped from any game on the PSX, as with the gameplay. the plot is the most engrossing of any game i have ever played and the customization of character jobs and abilities was very impressive. the only downside to this game was the lack of an open environment (the game was stage by stage based, not free roam) and the incredible decline in Difficulty once you obtain Orlandu, Beowulf, or even Meliadoul. still an excellent RPG to play, even if you were one of the many that waited all those years fro it to be re-released in the U.S.

4. Final Fantasy VII
yeah i figured i had to put this in the top 5 somewhere lol, someone would shoot me otherwise :P but in all seriousness, this is about the perfect RPG on the PSX, VIII beats it in graphics and complications with the plot, but VII was where it all began with 3-D RPG's on the PSX, and the 3-D jump for the final fantasy series. when you play the game and beat it for the first time, you stop for a second and think, "its finally over". the game goes on for a long time, never boring you though with the plot, but very engrossing and intriguing parts about Cloud's past, and the origins of Vincent (my fav character) and Jenova. excellent game.

5. Star Ocean: The Second Story
Enix did a fabulous job at creating a TRUE Role-Playing game here. the game is heavily focused on the plot more than anything else, to the point where you must make important decisions with the plot that will decide which characters you recruit, and how the general story unfolds. the plot itself is very original in many respects. The game play is fantastic, and the battle theme always got me excited to kick some pixelated ass. the final boss though, was a very well designed one. i made the mistake of turning off his "limiter" by freeing the soul of his daughter, and well, i needed to earn at least 98 more levels to even have a chance at him. so needless to say the difficulty is obvious in certain situations with this game, and the customization with item creation and refinement is absolutely wonderful. DEFINITELY worth the buy.

let me know what you think, if im a total nut job for my opinion or if you think im dead on the mark with what i think the top 5 RPG's on the playstation are.

just waiting for the dream to end....and the nightmare to commence.

This game was great and had a ridiculous amount of endings. I loved the real time gameplay and choices to recruit or battle some characters. A new one is about to released for the 360 so I'm going to cross my fingers and hope they don't screw it up.

Well 'till the end of time was a major dissapointment for me, nothing good came from that game that i could see besides the graphics, (which weren't even at the PS2 capability) so yeah, i doubt the next SO will be great, i know it wont compare to SO:SS because no game can compare to the best one in their series, every franchise makes one fantastic game in their series and the rest either suck or just dont quite live up to the series' potential.
