I own all of those consoles but the PS2 and my N64 would be my favourite out of them for all the nostalgia attached. Some of my best adolescent memories are from all night Goldeneye, F-Zero X and Mario Kart parties. I had a pretty whooping game collection too; I think I had around 30 games. And back then I used to play the crap out of every game and love every virtual inch of everyone.
But out of the current generation of consoles I would say the Xbox. The GC has that Nintendo magic in games like F-Zero GX, Zelda and Metroid, and is worth getting just for those, but I think the Xbox is the best console out of this generation. Technically its the best, but its things like the HD feature (rendering expensive memory cards obselete) and the fantastically designed controllers that won me over. Plus I really appreciate the exclusive titles. Im in love with Halo and Ninja Gaiden, which I probably wouldnt have thought too special a couple of years ago. I cant comment on PS2 since I dont own one, but Im thinking if I find one cheap Ill get it for GT3, GT4 and all those quirky Japanese RPGs.
As a side note, if you are going to include old consoles, how about the Dreamcast; the most underloved console in the history of gaming.

Well in my gaming lifetime ive went threw Nintendo, Sega Genisis, dreamcast, playstation and the Ps2. And by overwelling majority i would have to say PS2.
I went for the original Playstation as well...the machine that changed the world of videogames, taking it from a geeky pastime and into a lifestyle accessory accepted by everybody. Because of the Playstation, grownups can play too without being looked down upon.

Well, I LOVED the N64, but that was probably because I never owned one and had to go to my buddies house to school them in Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. And don't forget Conker's Bad Fur Day.
But as I own all of those consoles, the Xbox takes up all my time. I got GC just for Zelda and Mario and Metroid, but lets face it, that's all that it has. Except for Resident Evil of course.
I like PS2 because I was used to the controller, but alas, games like FF, and GTA aren't really enough to put it on top. Besides, give it time and you will be able to play GTA:San Andreas on the Xbox too.
The Xbox is far and away the winner in my mind. I mean the list of games that I've played on it just goes on and on. The football games are always better on the 'box, the graphics, no memory cards, the video capabilities, etc...

The GC graphically comes very close to the Xbox, The RE series for example is tremendous & the kitcsh graphics on Viewtiful Joe still rule. The PS2 does struggle depending upon what game engine it is trying to get to grips with however the amount of softwatre available is immense.
Just purchased an xbox and the sound and gameplay are superior - but what would you expect given it was brought out a year after the PS2.
Xbox just even tho the games are more limited.

Definetly Xbox for me. Never had a Ps1, had a Ps2 for a while but I had to trade in my Xbox to get it and ended up switching back. I had a N64 but I was young and didn't have internet or money for that matter so I never really had any awesome games except for Mariokart and Goldeneye.

Intellivision! (Utopia is one of the greatest games ever). Followed closely by Atari and Commodore 64 (with Koala Pad of course). Ok, and N64 because of Bond, the greatest game ever created, hands down!

Yea, well you see this one? This was my dream, my wish....and it didn't come true. So I'm taking it back, I'm taking them all back. -Face
N64 is the first system I owned and the system of many of my favorite games such as OoT and Goldeneye.
I also have PS2, and while it has several good games, it's best quality seems to be the ability to play PS1 games.
Which brings me to PS1. I never had one, but I've started playing some PS1 RPG's, and it was a really good system.
I don't have GC or XBox, but I really want a GC, as there are several games I want for it.
XBox doesn't have many games in my favorite console genres, especially RPGs. Most games I would be interested in for XBox (KOTOR and Morrowind) are available for PC. Fable looks good, but I'm not shelling out an extra 200 bucks for one game.
N64 wins by default as my favorite, but it is by no means the best.
I reserve the right to be entirely wrong.

What Are With Those Options?! I Dont Care About Graphics And That For True Immense Games That Really Involve You And Keep You Playing Like Constantly You Need An Rpg And Some Of The Best Rpg's Of My Past Are From The Snes Games Like Terranigma , Secret Of Mana , Tales Of Phantasia , The Original Final Fantasy's Those Games Despite Being On A Somewhat Dated Console Keep You Coming Back For More Till You've Completed Every Last Possible Thing.
For Me The Snes Owns All Consoles With Some Of The Most Addictive Games Ever!

Ha conker's! Awsome, I'm glad Rareware is bringing it to the Xbox, but I wish they'd add a second story instead of remaking the 1st- for those who have played it.
PS2 takes it for me. I am obsessed with acecombat and I feel I can get a better deal buying a PS2 (that is a very opinunated statement). But my runner up is the Xbox. That has a lot of my favorite FPS's.
