I suppose it will depend on how it plays. It won't get 99 though.

I doubt it will be the highest scoring game ever. Perhaps the better question is: will it live up to expectations? So long as they haven’t dramatically changed the formula, I think it will. The trailer looks pretty awesome.

YES it will definitely be the highest scoring game on MC, the only real weakness in the previous versions was the lack of multiplayer options (console versions i mean), and it looks like they have put a hell of a lot of effort into this side of the game this time, as well as the usual polish to the single player missions. All in all it has convinced me to get an xbox360!

Anyone see that pretty little metascore 100 by GTA4 right now? No game has ever been able to substain that high a score this deep in reviews. I think the closest a game got to it was bioshock, and that game had a 99. So yea, I think this is going to be the highest scoring game in history.
And doesn't that 10 from Ign (first 10 from them in a decade) speak volume? I don't know how rockstar does it, but it seems like they go far and beyond any expectations everytime a major gta game is released.

Will it be the highest-scoring game in history? It sure will, as long as journalists keep compromising their integrity, giving the thing a perfect score for the sake of sensationalism. I'm not saying that a perfect score should never be awarded. I know that GTA4 is freaking awesome, and when I play it, I'm gonna love it. I, myself, might even give it a perfect review. That's not the problem. The problem is reviews like this one from Gamer.nl: quote: "GTA IV is the best action game ever. The game has beautiful details, nice situations, extrodinary gameplay, sharp humor and great graphics. There are certainly a few minor negatives about the game, but the positive points are just too much. We have one piece of advice: Buy!"
Now, that said, you can NOT GIVE IT A PERFECT SCORE. By their own words, the game is not perfect. If the negatives they mentioned are indeed minor, then take off just one point each, but you still have to take them off! Once more reviews come in from actual journalists, not just hype factories, the score will drop. I'm sure, though, that it will still be one of the highest rated games of all time.

I see what you're saying, but it isn't entirely true. A 'perfect' score doensn't exactly mean the game is perfect. It means that's the highest score they could give it, and so, a game can get 'perfect' scores, while still being mildly flawed.

After reading a few reviews, I would buy one of the new consoles simply to play the damn thing. Having said that, Microsoft and Sony have got to be fucking mental if they think I'm going to cough up $300+ bucks for one of them...looks like I'll wait. ---------------------------------- Employee of the month awards are the opiate of the masses. I'm surprised it isn't released on PC. It might not be now that it is released on XBox 360, which would be sad news indeed.

x3! I’m also seriously considering buying an X-Box 360 just to play GTA IV, it looks awesome, although I’ve heard it looks and runs better on the PS3.

well it is now. but after playing for a day now on it. it has a few problems on the xbox-360 such as no anti aliasing support. i have heard that it runs on 2x anti aliasing but doesn't look like that to me. and very bad slowdowns (fps) most of the time especially when it's daylight the fps drop down so much as to hurt your eyes when moving around. i think rockstar should have made the game run at default graphics settings as to keep the fps smooth.i'm sure they tried to tweak it to run on 2x aa but the slowdowns ruin it. it is a great game and will always be, but sacrificing higher graphics quality over smooth gameplay is not right. you will see what i mean when you play it for a while.
