As a professional Merchant Mariner who has sailed on many of the types of vessels represented in the game, here are the reasons I found this game to be unrealistic. I believe the makers in no way made an effort to even consult people in the field before making it...

1.) The towing missions: WAY too much wire on the stern for making turns. In real life the tugs would reel in most of that wire to shorten the turn radius, PLUS there would often be two vessels involved in the operation.

2.) As a small vessel you are made aware that large ships have right of way, yet as a large ship you're expected to dodge everyone that comes out of a channel. The damage portion of the game (tells you how much damage you've done) is idiotic as well, as I'll explain later.

3.) Environmental damage costs? HAH! First off, throttling up in shallow water and stirring up the ocean floor is NOT illegal or an offense one can be fined for in any country in the world, I dont know why the ship in this operation was so close to shore as it was.

4.) Damages: OK... if I SLAM INTO A DOCK OR SHIP and damage them, that's my fault. If I get nailed by someone else violating the rules of the road, that's THEIR damage bill, not mine.

5.) You can't save anything you do, so if you cause damage after 65 minutes of playing in the scenario (or even more time), you're gonna have to reset the whole level. Waste of time.

6.) AI vessels act like retards in this game... makes some missions impossible

7.) In flight simulator you could request permission to land or take off (requesting clearance). On a real ship you make security calls when entering or exiting a channel or port to let other ships know they're there. So when I cut into a channel and see another ship barreling down without a care I get annoyed because in person that rarely happens.

8.) Rescue missions in this game are complete bullshit. A tugboat will not come near land to rescue a drowning man, especially if there are 100 sailboats and yachts in the area. Sailing across a bay to rescue a man who is drowning within 20 feet of land is nonsense.

9.) Waypoints are in stupid places and spread out so far they make me want to just not complete my missions and play around in open water. WTF is a waypoint supposed to do for me in a mission anyway? NOTHING.

and 10.) How is a waypoint an actual physical thing that I can slam into? Ridiculous. These programmers need to consult professional mariners next time they want to dabble in vessel simulators.

That's my two cents...

Thanks for the heads up. I personally wouldn't be interested in this game because it looks boring to me. Also, if I can't save the game, I get pretty upset about it too.
