It's going to be on the 360. I would suggest buying either Guitar Hero I or II. Both of them are really good, like the reviews said, some of the covers aren't that great, but overall I bought both of them. I suggest buying a 2nd guitar for GHII, since it seems like the main focus is on multiplayer. Other then that, I've been playing it since, 60 songs is a lot of songs to 5star :P. One problem though, my disk is messed up (and its not scratched) but the disk skips when I'm playing a song, and esp for a rhythem game, it really throws me off. I would write more, but I'm kinda lazy right now.

Yeah, theres a lot of songs. But you have to remember that there abunch of unlockable songs, and some of them are pretty fun to play. I also forgot to mention, that Hammer-ons and Pull-offs are soOoO much easier to do; as opposed to the 1st GH.

Ok, got the game for x-mas. I beat easy, medium, and am on the third venue of hard. I haven't quite gotten the hang of hammer-ons and pull-offs even though I play guitar in real life, go figure. Only real complaint I have with the game is the songlist. It's ok, but it could have been so much better. My favorite GHII songs: 1. War Pigs - Black Sabbath 2. YYZ - Rush (very close second) 3. Killing in the Name - RATM honorable mention: Heart Shaped Box, Woman, Sweet Child O' Mine

Disregarding the Wii, I’ve never really been into games that physically simulate reality like for example arcade dancing games or singing games. My little brother loves this game, I gave it a shot and I have to admit, I can see why It’s entertaining, however at the risk of sounding defensive it’s probably cheaper and far more rewarding to buy a real guitar and learn how to play it, which is what I made my brother do, and now I don’t think he really bothers with this game. Ten years from now being able to play an instrument is a skill he will remember and value and will add to his over all character, I doubt he will remember this game. Potentially there is the possibility of heaps of games like this being released more than ever, especially with the Wii. I’m all for convenience, for example being able to bowl in my living room as many times as I want beats going out and bowling at an alley (although It doesn’t compare to the real thing), but is this a bad thing? Don’t get me wrong because surely in reality you can’t go out and hunt monsters, cast magic, be a warrior swordsman, drive expensive and exotic cars at ridiculous speeds on public streets etc. In saying that, making games of fictional styles more physical by incorporating hand movement and beyond would be awesome and I have no issue with that, but when you’re replicating something that is easily accessible in every day life, and you’re not gaining any of the skill or general exercise out of it, isn’t it just a true waste of time?

In as much as playing those other less reality based games, then yes. I enjoy playing guitar hero II on PS2, so I guess I've gotten out of it what I paid for it. But that doesn't mean my time would have been better spent trying to learn how to play the real guitar. As has been mentioned, playing guitar hero is a completely different experience than playing the guitar. I play guitar hero because it's relatively simple and easy way to relieve (or build up) stress while pretending to jam. If I wanted to 'build up a skill' or start a band then perhaps I'd go to the time and expense ($) to learn the real guitar. Then again, one could argue that would just be a waste of my time - I could be working, building up a more marketable skill, learning a new language, short trading stocks, hiking, walking the dog... you get the idea.

Yeah I can see your point, however I think you’re comparing one skill in reality to another to justify a virtual skill which in most cases, other then in general video game knowledge would be useless, when any skill gained in the real world is useful in one way or another and also builds character, whether it’s playing guitar or as you said marketing, speaking another language etc. Basically what I’m saying is if what you’re getting out of a game is only the emulated watered down version of the real thing which is just as easily accessible, than why short change yourself, granted guitar hero is much simpler and it’s really no more then a source of innocent entertainment, but then again, 50 years ago playing guitar might have been considered the same thing. I enjoy video games mainly for their entertainment and fictional content which I guess is just my prerogative, you could say there are allot of games that emulate something you could do in real life, granted, but when do we reach the point of emulating our whole life in a virtual world as we are left with nothing as people in reality, however that might be getting a bit too philosophical. Either way, as said I earlier I can see why it’s fun.
