I am really quite curious about this movie now, where I had no interest in seeing it when it came out. A friend of mine told me he wasn't thrilled with it, and his 10yr old son complained that it was boring and "nothing new I hadn't seen before"! Everyone here is gushing over it so I have a new desire to check it out, you have all piqued my curiosity!

I only saw The Iron Giant for the first time in the past year. I'm so sorry it didn't do better at the theatre because every good thing I ever heard about it was true and then some. It's plenty compelling for adults and entertaining for all. It's also a pretty fine example of a traditional method of animation that is likely going to become more and more rare in the future.
I cannot wait to see The Incredibles.

I watched it last night. Very disappointed. Far inferior to Finding Nemo. This was a "safe bet" movie after the financial failure of Iron Giant. Totally overrated, predictable and by the numbers. The animated backgrounds were phenomenal, but the characters were weak, both visually and vocally. If this was a live-action film with the same plot people would slam it for not living up to expectations. I'm not saying it's a bad film, but it is nowhere even close to the best animated movies or superhero movies. Totally unoriginal, contrived and formulaic compared to the standard bearers of those genres. I would find its best comparison to be Hulk.

Holly Hunter is the sexiest actor goin' 'round. The way she fit into those tights, mmm mmm.
Yeah, burnin' I copy that statement. I know it's a little weird when your strangely attracted to an animated character, but whoa, AND she had two kids with super powers.
I sure hope that everyone who rents or buys The Incredibles DVD watches the special features and finds Mr. Incredible and Pals. It's on Disc 2 in the Top Secret section. It's a four minute cartoon, but you'll have to watch it twice, once w/ and once w/o the commentary.
It's a perfect recreation of those cheesy late-'50s/early-'60s cartoons (Clutch Cargo) where basically none of the characters moved, but human lips were superimposed on their faces speaking all the dialogue. I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but w/o the commentary, it's very funny. With the commentary (by Mr. Incredible and Frozone), it's roll-on-the-floor stuff.
I have to show it to everybody I know, so make sure you check it out and report back please. Once you've seen it, we can discuss it in more detail. Actually, somebody here must have watched it already, so post now!

Is that the one with Frozone and Mr. Incredible and the bunny that doesn't do anything but hop? If so, it was, indeed, hilarious. I haven't seen it with the commentary, but I own it so I will make sure to check it out. You are correct Mark, that was a priceless piece of animation right there.

You're correct Mike, Mr. Skipperdoo doesn't provide any commentary for obvious reasons, but Mr. Incredible's and especially Frozone's commentaries are great, and I LOVE that coming attraction at the end with the Killer Corn!
