I read somewhere that Fox had confirmed a Simpsons movie was on the way. Anyone heard anymore? I just hope they dont rape the memory of what was once a fantastic series but has since gone downhill.

After they concluded the negotiations with the voice talent on the TV show, I heard that they settled on moving forward with plans for the film. Unfortunately, because the animation takes about 9 months for each 22 minute show, it might take some time after they come up with the story to actually produce the thing. But to the point: it sounds like they're serious about doing it now, and I doubt the creators would greenlight anything that would stain the series any further.....

No, I agree that the earlier stuff was better. I'm actually a bigger fan of Futurama, which I thought was hilarious. Not sure if it's cancelled, though. Haven't seen an episode in a while.
Futurama is really great. Its interesting that Futurama and the earlier Simpsons were really well received over here and the later ones werent too well liked, but its the total opposite in the US.
Im a bigger fan of Matt Groening than committee thought anyday.

A Simpsons movie could be just the thing to go out on a high, seeing as how the TV series isn't currently as good as the old stuff.
I agree about Futurama. I actually like that more than The Simpsons, and if they did make a movie of that, they could really let rip with their imaginations thanks to the sci-fi angle. In all honesty, I think the chances of a Futurama movie are pretty slim.

I love The Simpsons, I, of course, haven't seen all of the older episodes because I'm only able to catch them on re-runs (I'm too young to have seen it when they came out.) They all are great to me; in my opinion they are the best show on television. (I know this is pretty late, but...) Beau, Futurama is cancelled, on one of the newer episodes of The Simpsons there was a teenager who was jumping off a cliff and he said it was because Futurama was over. They do have it on on Cartoon Network on Adult Swim though. I watch it often. It's on on week nights at 11:30 and sometimes 11:00 on some week days (maybe 11:00 on some week nights too, I'm not totally sure, but it's one of them.)

I just cant believe they havent made a Simpsons movie already, i mean, they have made movies out of animated shows that have been going for 2 or 3 years but the Simpsons has been running for 15 years!! I heard somewhere that after the movie there will be no more tv episodes? I hope thats not true. But if there is a movie, it would have to be good to match the reputation of the show, and there would also need to be some large change, such as a death or a birth in the family or something on that note.

Unfortunately, Futurama has been cancelled, after only 4 series. Which is a real real shame and a real real crime! I guess it was a bit too "crazy" for the Americans. I really loved Fry and Zoidberg, they were excellent, as well as the old Professor.
I actually prefer the Simpsons (even though the later episodes have been a bit hit and miss), I think that it's just hilarious. And some old episodes are just genius.
WHY!!! WHY FUTURAMA!!! Well you never know! They might bring it back like they are doing with Family Guy which in my opinion is funnier than Futurama, South Park and The Simpsons combined. I still like the Simpsons more tho because of the better characters and its 15 year consistency.

Simpsons Movie ? Pah It Wont Compare To The Show And Like Everyone Else Says The Show Has Gone Downhill Now I Hope They Just Give It Up And Let It Go
As For Futerama , Bring It Back ASAP!! And As For Family Guy Havin Own Series 1,2,3 On Dvd I Think It Beats Simpsons And Even Futerama Into The Ground With Its Stupid Outtakes Of Everything Like The Tron Outtake... Cracks Me Up!
So Yeah Bring Back Family Guy , Futerama And Let Simpsons Go!
Does anyone have any ideas on who would be a good Homer, Marge, Burns etc...?
I think John C. Reilly would be a more than perfect Homer! Hank Azaria should play Professor Frink and Apu (with a lot of make up), Harry Shearer would play Kent Brockman and maybe some other characters. As for burns, that's a tough one, Leslie Nielsen or Steve Martin (both with a lot of make up). Flanders: Scott Bakula with a mustache Wiggum: John Goodman (who would be, actually, also a good Homer)

Ed, Im pretty sure that the Simpsons movie is going to be animated like the shows, not live action.

After promising a theatrical feature version of The Simpsons for years, the TV show's creator, Matt Groening, has indicated that plans for the movie are at last approaching fruition. In an interview with Britain's Guardian newspaper, Groening remarked, "We're trying to tell a story that we wouldn't do on television and take advantage of a longer process and a more ambitious process for animation." However, he added, the movie "will either kill the [TV] show or completely reinvigorate it." Admitting that he regards himself as a liberal, Groening also said that he has been given unprecedented freedom by the conservative-oriented Fox TV network. He told the newspaper: "We've poked fun at Rupert Murdoch a number of times and some of the executives are worried about it, although Rupert himself seems to be very good natured. He played himself as 'evil billionaire tyrant Rupert Murdoch' and good for him."

The long anticipated movie version of The Simpsons has been put off until at least 2008 because those connected with the TV show don't want work on the movie to affect it, exec producer Al Jean has told Entertainment Weekly. "The biggest thing is you don't want to do a movie that's not reflective of the quality of the show, and you don't want the quality of the show to slip because you're doing the movie. So we're taking a little time," Jean said.

That is awesome that they are doing a Simpsons movie! That's smart they are waiting a while. Esp. since most of the voices have a bunch of other projects, there is only so much those guys can do...

I am a dissenting voice(what else is new?) in the "old Vs new" debate. I so look forward to new episodes, and relish every fresh moment. I don't think the quality has declined, in fact I think that every aspect of the show is more polished and proffessional, I do, however think that the perspective has changed, and shifted with the times. This is one of the factors that keeps it fresh, and I thank all involved that they are willing to move forward with the concept and not allow it to just go stale and petrify into hubris.
