I've been thinking about picking up Mario Party. I played the 4th one a couple of times and loved it. However, I've noticed the steady decline in ratings from most reviewers in the Mario Party series... is this because the game keeps building on the same concept? ...or are the games actually getting worse? I'm confused... and I don't care to rent them all and try them out before deciding which one to buy.

My gut tells me to get Mario Party 6 and be done with it, but I'd like to hear other people's opinions on the matter. Remember, I don't own any Mario Party titles at the moment... and I don't have any real experience with the series. I just like 4-player games.

As a side note, I'm also thinking of picking up Super Smash Bros. Melee... is this a worthy companion to Mario Party for 4-player goodness?

i think mario party 4/6 is best and smash bros melee would be a great match unlock luigi and it could be a mushroom classic of mario&luigi vs bowser&dk

They're all pretty equal but I do like most part 5/6, it's the best, based on how you use the items. Also, the microphone in part 6 works fairly well. Pretty nice!

It's the same game OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER! Just get the most recent, I suppose.
And yes, Super Smash Bros. Melee is very fun with four players.

Mario Party 7!!!! The game is flat out tight! Gots to get it! Better graphic, more adventure, and cooler boards! Gots ta get it!

I just sold my GameCube system and games… Maybe I’ll be playing Mario Party Revolution in a few years. ;-)

DS Lite… here I come!

It's a really fun game with 4 people. It's purpose isn't really to be a thought-provoking game with a good plot, it's just to give the players some fun. 3 & 5 are my favorites, and I love the addition of the microphone.

It's gonna change a bit, but probably hold the same concept. I think people are giving it worse reviews because it's the same concept, but if you like it, it really doesn't matter.

I have Mario Party 4 and 7 I've played 5 and disliked it very much but I might try it again. M P 6 is alright But 7 is my favorite and I never get tired of 4. But the most fun part is playing 2 player so you can yell at the idiot cmp players lol.

Best Mario Party game? They're all the same (other than the new microphone option, which is lame, by the way). Honestly, my favorite is the first Mario Party on the N64.

My favorite was the first one. I thought the 7th was pretty cool too, so either one would be cool to get. Super Smash Bros Melee would be a good game to get also, it's a good 4 player game.
