Did you hear what the Salt Lake City District Attorney had to say today about Mark Hacking, the guy who recently shot & killed his pregnant wife??

"Lori went to bed and the defendant played Nintendo for about an hour, and then began packing. At this point, the defendant stated that he came across his .22 calibur rifle, walked into the bedroom, and shot Lori in the head while she slept."

Source: Statement of the District Attorney, August 9, 2004

I guess the point of bringing this evidence to light is to show that the crime was pre-meditated, not some heat-of-the-moment kind of a killing. But I wonder if he was playing GameCube, N64, or Super NES??? I wouldn't think he would be playing GBA before doing such a thing! (Unless he was so frustrated by Legends of Wreslting II)

I shouldn't make light of this. My flippant posting is more a protest over these 24 hour new channels broadcasting every little detail of these cases (Peterson, Kobe, Hacking, etc.) to the exclusion of important news.

So keep playing your Nintendo. Just put the gun away first, just to be safe....

Rest assured, this will be used by anti-video game types. Yes, the Nintendo shall be blamed for these heinous crimes.

I reserve the right to be entirely wrong.

More fodder for ignorant people to call for banning of violent video games.

Playing Crash Bandicoot frustrates me, but I continue to play them. One day I will probably go beserk from it and hurt something.

I have my doubts as to whether it was even a game on a Nintendo platform myself, as the company has become so popular that its named is attached to all video games for the not-so-hardcore folks. If he was playing Nintendo though, I bet he was about two-thirds of the way through Metroid Prime 2 without using the lock-on. And also I agree that it is ridiculous to blame such a heinous crime on video games. I mean let's face it, in a case like this, you're either mentally deranged or not, and playin' a FPS isn't really gonna' change that.

Just wait. Jack Thompson (aka: F**king Satan) is gonna jump on this one. He'll also put GTA somewhere within his case.
