I am the only "new" face in this film (as Ronald Vaughan/Isadore Ivy).

It was past time that somebody documented the
fantastic accomplishments of KROQ'S Rodney
Bingenheimer. Unfortunately, the director
"Hollywood-ized" it up...and btw #1, for the record, Rodney was not dropped off at
Connie Stevens' house by his late mother!

Kim Fowley voiced that fabrication by
the director...Other than items like that, this
doc. is essentially correct...but a little too
sad (and too short) for some people...but Rodney launched the careers of about half the music industry!!

The original picture elements still exist in
Northern California. Somebody could re-cut the
film and re-release it. When Rodney gets his
"Star" on the Walk of Fame (sometime after 2006,
the money's already been raised)perhaps that'll
be an incentive.

BTW #2: For anybody still wondering, the reason
I seek Jennifer Love Hewitt is because of pre-
dictions that the late Dutch psychic Peter Hurkos [peterhurkos.com] made for me in the
early Seventies. This was not shown in the film,
and the DVD had no outtakes of me; it's especially germane now because JLH is working with another Dutch psychic, James van Praagh, for her current CBS show, Ghost Whisperer...go figure...

Especially since this show has been #1 for five straight shows in a row (a whole month!!)

I saw that documentary last spring. Are you still writing songs and performing? Does Rodney still have a radio show?

I thought that the documentary was sad too. I hope Rodney is doing well.

Well, my songwriting is at a standstill...
I haven't made too much money off the film
(yet) but I have music royalties due me soon...

Performing? No, I never performed live in any
club...I would need a band (preferably all-
female!) who knew my songs...

And my CD's not yet released...Available only
through me...

Still haven't met Jennifer Love Hewitt...but
Peter Hurkos' predictions seem right on track,
and her "Ghost Whisperer" show is having unusu-
al success! I sure could, though, use a good
manager/publicist/lawyer to cut through
entertainment "red tape"...because,unfortunate-
ly, being in this movie didn't automatically
guarantee additional "connections"...though I
wouldn't trade being in "Mayor of the Sunset
Strip" for a million dollars!

I saw this film at the NYFF and I thought it was a con. I thought it was a pseudo documentary and Rodney Bingenheimer was a fictional character being portrayed by an actor.

How wrong I was! I was a real an interesting documentary.

I did perform the song "The H.L. Twist"
on Jimmy Kimmel Live but that was be-
cause they had a house band (May 20,2004).

That song's only on my CD,"Ronald Vaughan IS
Isadore Ivy: Spaceman-at-Large".

Yeah, the documentary's basically real...it's
been shown on several cable TV channels by now
and is on DVD!

Update: Feb. 21 (JLH 27th birthday)...
"Ghost Whisperer" on the air, was #1 for
THREE MONTHS (13 shows) in a row!

BUT, has been having repeats and is starting
to slip a little...Nonetheless, some kind of
"Dutch psychic energy" DOES seem to be involved!

The Mayor of the Sunset Strip is an amazing documentary for those who haven't seen it yet. It's one of those movies you can watch again and again and still be entertained. One of the complaints on this forum is that it's too short; well, when you include the extra features on the DVD, it's well over 4 hours long, filled with penetrating analysis and insight from long lost bands. Well worth the price of admission!

As of late August,2006, RODNEY had his 30th-
anniversary show on KROQ.

And somewhere in November,2007, RODNEY is getting his "Star" on the Hollywood Walk of
Fame!!
