Bob Dylan: No Direction Home (Scorsese, 2005, Grade: B+)

This film details the early Dylan (the one who dared to transition from the "folk artist of our time" to the "sold-out 'pop' performer with a lousy "Band".) This falls in my Top Five of the year. I understand how some people rate this way and some people rate that, but this is a 2005 film, so it's fair game to me.

I enjoy Scorsese's structure, where he revolves everything around Dylan's original electric concert in England in 1966, and he showcases how the lines in the audience were drawn and what a hulllabaloo it all produced. I also enjoy how Scorsese makes sure that you understand, no matter how much Bobby Boy denies it, that he was at the forefront of personal protest music in the 1960s here in our U.S. of A.

My main recommendation is to watch this film, as often as your Spirit moves you. Yeah, Scorsese deserves credit, but this film is a Labor of Love, for all concerned, and not an "I Told You So"!

A must-see for Dylan fans and an interesting documentary for anyone who loves music. Initially I thought I would have to do it in two watches due to it's lengthy run-time but I was so pulled in that I watched all 4 hours straight through.

agreed. This was great. Did anyone see I'm Not There (2007)? I'd like an opinion please.

I haven't seen it but have been planing on it. the reviews are mixed - but I never really do put much stock in reviews.
I sounds like a really interesting film in the way it is put together and in its collection of characters
