Yeah, it seems a little fishy the ENTIRE theater felt the same as you, going so far as to laugh at the movie at the end. It's hard to believe that EVERYONE there really felt the same as you. In the one I went to, I would say NEARLY EVERYONE enjoyed the picture & NOBODY laughed at the end.

Just got back from seeing it with a friend who hadn't been able to see it until today. HE LOVED IT. He had been looking forward to this movie since he had first seen the trailer months ago. His expectations were high &, unlike others who also claimed they "really wanted to like this movie", he enjoyed it very much! I'm guessing that he liked it because it was what HE expected: a movie about gladiators at war. Also, because he REALLY wanted to like it.

So if I say Charlton Heston, Red Sea and Israelites, you won't know from where I cometh? I watched "Dinner w/ Andre" for a 2nd time the other week, but this time I found Andre's thoughts incredibly annoying, whereas I loved the film the 1st time. Perhaps you could go see the last few minutes of 300 when there is probably 3 men left standing....just playing...

The theater I was in loved the movie. However, when Xerxes put his hands on Leonidas's shoulders and said "It's not my LASH they fear..." my friends and I went into hysterics. We were the only ones who did. =P

The Ten Commandments. Sometimes I make an exception. I also loved Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy. I think I'll have to see 300 from the very beginning. It's either that or Wild Hogs. LOL Have you ever seen Woman in the Dunes? Loved that one.

Hey, didja guys hear? The people of Iran are personally offended by "300" because the Persians are their ancestors! They believe they are being portrayed as monsters. That seems a little too sensitive, but what do I know?

I thought the movie was highly entertaining and will probably wind up owning this movie. I generally am not that big of a fan of testosterone drenched movies, but this movie delivered exactly what I wanted- some great visuals of some cool shit. In no way were the writing or plot masterful, but it delivered what I expected it to. I don't understand all the people who went expecting to see a historically accurate, deep movie. Well, I guess the movie was trying to be deep... so that was it's major downfall. It's writing was essentially terrible but I can let that slide on this movie.

Jglass pretty well states my own thoughts on this movie, though I don't plan on buying a DVD of it and I would have liked more substance along with the action.

Isn't that the point of the "best movie"? Having all aspects good. It was a good movie although as platypus said it lacked in many ways.
Just one example would be the dialogue that takes place in sparta during the fighting, absolutely terrible. Im not sure if they took the dialogue straight from the graphic novel but it seems too overlooked.

I passionately hated 300. If I wanted to see 2 hours of abdominal muscles and cheesy video game-like battle sequences, I would have brought my PSP to Chippendales.

It was a very entertaining movie, but it wasn't a good movie at all. A lot of scenes were very cheesy and the dialogue were horrible. The visuals and battle scenes were pretty awesome, though.

Apparently not... Nevertheless, the threat of not being considered a "real man" isn't nearly enough for me to rethink my opinion on 300.
