I just saw a preview for "Disturbia" & it looks very interesting. Seems like a "Rear Window" remake. Like in "Rear Window", the main character believes he has just witnessed a murder through his binoculars. The difference between the two, in "Disturbia", it's a teenager that is stuck in his yard on house arrest with an ankle braclet that prevents him from leaving it. I just might have to check this one out.

Sure, I might offend a few of the blue-noses with my cocky stride and musky odor - oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called 'City Fathers' who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about what's to be done with this Monkey_Boy?!"

The Nation has reviewed a long forgotten and poorly distributed film from '77, entitled Killer of Sheep, about a working class family from Watts, L.A. It has been remastered etc, and is going on release soon. Sounds terrific going on the review, so I will sit quietly with my hands folded and wait.

Sunshine is getting close to release...man, I have high hopes for this one. Alex Garland is turning into a very fine screenwriter; Danny Boyle is getting better and better as a director, and the central idea is the most exciting, intelligent theme to come along in S/F for yrs..... We need more S/F like this, and less like...well..say 90% of the S/F released...

Is anyone else looking forward to Grindhouse? That movie looks great. Quentin Tarantino has never disappointed me and Robert Rodriguez did such an excellent job on Sin City. This movie looks awesome and it has Rosario Dawson and Rose McGowan, two of the hottest girls in the world, in my opinion.
----- If you don't love me, I'm sorry.

That's what I'm talking about! I've been looking forward to "Grindhouse" since I heard of it! I started a thread for this monster in the Action/Adventure catagory. Leave your comments & be prepared to argue with naysayers & an Aussie who currently resides in China!

Seeing it tomorrow on opening day of a brand new theater.
So far what I've heard is great action, crappy story.
Then you have heard very, very wrong.

Yes, as a matter of fact. *SPOILERS* The stories of..... -A woman struggling to fight within the judicial system to save the soldiers by any means necessary. -A father living with the deep burden of never being able to tell his son that he loved him, creating a dark tale of anger and violence. -A man shunned by his own kind, and forced to become something that he hates. -A king given the fact that he may be only a mortal, and his fear of people relizing it themselves. -The story of a couragious leader banning his men together for a fight to the death.

These are great plot devices. Pity they aren't more than brief sketches of a coupla lines in a film concerned with battle scenes above all else. I did enjoy the film tho'.

Right. Most of them last through the whole movie and helps tie into the end, but they're sketches. Sure.

What I mean is Awesome man, is that these plot lines are very lightly sketched. There is little weight to them, they have minimal impact on the overall story, and script-wise, they consist of a handful of lines scattered through a movie which, I repeat is mostly men fighting. Nothing wrong with men fighting. Why try to give this fight fest a deeper mileiu? The queen plot was tacked on at studio request,, and the other devices are merely the screws attaching huge great sheets of iron as the men bash each other. Dont get me wrong. I like the film, but the filmmakers to me don't seem to be much concerned with doing anything other than great screen battles.

Without those stories, the movie would not move far. The action was amazing, but the story was strong enough to tote it forward with pride.

In the Voice, Hoberman boasted about the depth, tone, and themes of this film. The cinematic technicality is that Killer of Sheep is only available for viewing in New York City or Los Angeles. The reason for this is that the director did not license the music, this averted release.

Rob Zombie + Michael Myers = Pure genious COME ON!!!!!! You've gotta be kidding me!!! Why do we need a remake of this? The original barely made sense, but was alright as a horror flick. Then we had an obscene amount of sequels making Jamie Lee Curtis his sister, which made NO sense . Rob Zombie also sucks! "The Devil's Rejects" was terrible! I can only imagine how gory he's going to make this movie! I'm picturing another "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"-type remake . Man, we really do need to storm Hollywood!
