I put on The Decemberists' "Crane Wife" last night and was struck by the fact that I hadn't heard it in its entirety in a while. In fact, I realized, once 2006 was over I made the jump to listening to 2007 pretty quickly. The only album to survive that transition was probably TV on the Radio's "Return to Cookie Mountain", which I still dig on a regular basis. What about you guys? Have you moved on from 2006, or are there still albums you're spinning to this day?

Well to be honest nothing from 2007 has blown me away so I am still catching up on 2006, tv on the radio and joanna newsom still get regular plays, I really do love those albums (listening to the eraser now). Plus I've been digging deeper into danielson and yeah yeah yeahs.

Looking to get eluvium, panda bear and blonde redhead...

Funny enough, I just saw Subtle last night open for TVOR. We (my GF and I) had no idea who they were, but they freakin rocked the place. That lead guy Dose is amazin! We thought they were better than TVOR. Now I need to go find the album.

I'm still listening to the Knife and the Long Blondes frequently.. I'm sure there are others in rotation but these are the ones that I actually are in the mood for frequently (that means a lot).

Oh, and Joanna Newsom's Ys.

I definitely got started on The Knife late, as well. "We Share Our Mother's Health" is ridiculously catchy.

I have been listening to Mates Of State which has grown on me immeasurably in the last month. Also Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly, Cold War Kids, and P.O.S.

Still listening regularly to The Crane Wife and Dog Problems too. I think I'll take those albums to my grave with me.

Oh, man. Dog Problems. Probably THE best album released last year, IMHO. You are a man of good taste, friend.

I was talking to my gf on the phone and I had Dog Problems on... she started to sing along to one of the songs and I became really confused. Apparently the song had been getting radio play...?

Radio play? Interesting. It's certainly well deserved.

Oh, the Crane wife definitely.

Interestingly, despite some early interest and heavy rotation, I haven't wanted to listen to the Hold Steady lately. So much for #1 album of the year, in my book at least.

Grizzly Bear's Yellow House has not left my stereo once since I bought it in November.

Hah, yeah. At one point I was sure that I'd put them too low on my year-end list, but now it looks about right.

Yeah, I saw them live a few months ago (opening show for their tour! Smiler) and it only strengthened my love of their album. If you haven't heard it yet, man-oh-man, you're about to be blown away!

The Thermals: The Body, The Blood, The Machine

Didn't include it on last year's top 20 list only because I had only heard a few songs. The album is solid from beginning to end. Favorites: Returning to the Fold and St. Rosa and the Swallows

This album is really good. I'd drop it at least at number four for '06 now, maybe even two or three. Really good stuff.

Nice to see the love for the Thermals.

Another 2006 album I would now slot higher is the Figurines album Skeleton. The lead singer has an interesting voice and I enjoy both the faster and slower songs on the album. Great stuff. Really looking forward to their next CD. Anyone know when it's coming out?
