I don't really mind any album as a #1, but I think that if Newsome was to win, there will be quite a bit of regret towards the next of the year when we have had more time to digest the year. It will not age well. Not that it matters though, it is just lists.

I lost all respect for the man a few years ago, when I read his review for Star Wars, Ep. 1. In this review, he actually says that Jar-Jar Binks was one of the greatest movie characters of all time. Does anybody else remember seeing that?

You have got to be kidding me. I'd have to see that to believe it. Honestly, my memory tells me he gave the movie a bad review, but my memory can't be held accountable for much. If someone has this review, post forth.

My memory could be playing tricks on me too. But curiously, you cannot access his review on rollingstone.com anymore. Conspiracy? You be the judge.

Actually, after I made the post yesterday, I googled "Peter Travers Phanton Menace" The quotes I have seen from his review are generally unfavorable - I think he said the jokes were juvenile. But, he also did say that there was a lot of cool stuff in the movie. So, my memory is neither proved nor disproved.

I couldn't disagree more. I think the album will have the same effect in 10 years or 50 years. It's not a "now" type of album, so I don't see how it will age poorly, like say, Clipse might.

I was pretty disgusted that tiny mix tapes chose Joanna Newsom, and shocked that pitchfork chose the knife. Neither of those really feel like album of the year material to me.

Oh, well.
