OK, I'm gonna take the dive now I guess. Might as well do it sometime, since I'll probably continously change my name. Plus I'm watching Back to the Future, which is freakin' clasic, so I'm in a good mood.

Branford Marsalis Quartet "Braggtown" 6. Sunset Rubdown "Shut Up I Am Dreaming" 7. Subtle "For Hero: For Fool" 8. Ornette Coleman "Sound Grammar" 9. Annuals "Be He Me" 10. I also enjoyed the Grizzly Bear, Phoenix, M Ward, Oxford Collapse, Lemonheads, Tom Waits, Murder By Death, and Junior Boy's new releases. Two albums that aged like Save by the Bell reruns were Danielson and the Figurines latests. Also, I really really tried to enjoy "Ys" but it just never clicked with me. All and all a solid year in music, the only albums that I was a little disappointed in were "The Life Pursuit" and "Get Lonely," both decent albums but as a big fan of both artists I guess I just wanted more. And as an aside, I just can't get the new Okkervil River song, The President's Dead, out of my head, what a great track. 2007 is looking brighter and brighter

Minus 5 was one of my favorite bands until this album came out. Something about it just sounded off to me, maybe a bit recycled from their previous albums. What is it that you like so much about it? Maybe I'll give it another listen because I had written it off since the day it was released. I think that In Rock and Let the War Against Music Begin (Part II) are amazing albums. Li'l help please.

Well, it's number 20 on my list, so I don't quite love it like I do my top 5. It's been on and off my list throughout the year. I don't think the album as a whole is that strong, but it's got some terrific songs that I can't get out of my head, particularly "Rifle Called Goodbye" and "Cemetery Row". When I got down to 19 & 20 on my list, there were a lot of albums that could've gone there (Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Archie Bronson Outfit, Vetiver, Oxford Collapse, Cold War Kids, The Black Keys), but in the end I felt I needed to give a shoutout to the Minus 5, since probably no one else will.
Also, it's got some hilarious lyrics on it, like , "I had 6 White Russians tonight, and 2 of them were people." Ha!

Coming in early again this year! Well from our discussion before, our lists this year are not going to end up looking that similar beyond #1. I do like The Minus 5 inclusion, it's one I've been waffling on. I probably won't be posting this year till near the deadline.

The Hold Steady's climbing. Some might say Separation Sunday was the better album, and last year it didn't even chart. A lot of "it's overrated" type comments. THANK GOD WE GOT M.I.A. IN THE TOP 20. WHEW.

First love for The Streets, I think. It's going to end up in my list as well, probably in the bottom half like you.
And you messed up t he line. It's
"Are you telling me that this sucker is nuclear?"
So it is, so it is...
I liked The Streets newest pretty well. Not nearly as good as Skinner's first two, but still a good one none the less. I think First Impressions of Earth falls into the same catagory as well.

By my count, it's #2 on our collective list, although TVOTR still has a pretty big lead
I think most people had the idea that Return to Cookie Moutain was going to run away with this. Maybe not in a landslide like Suf did last year, but more then likely a pretty sizable margin. I'd like to see Liars and the Hold Steady give it a run for its money, though, and they seem to be in 2nd and 3rd as far as I can tell.
Although The Thermals are making a more impressive showing then I expected. A lot of people have it ranked highly.

Quite a few final lists already. I know mine won't be ready til after the new year. But I'm glad to see these albums mentioned in members' lists: Deadboy & The Elephantmen, Sol Seppy and Shack. I have a lot of relistening to do, especially for the earlier in the year stuff, like Camera Obscura, which I've neglicted to replay lately.

I caught onto Deadboy & The Elephantmen relatively late in the year, even though their album's been out for awhile. Pitchfork gave it a pretty bad review, although one of my other favorite review sources, the Onion A.V. Club, had good things to say about it. Anyone who likes the White Stripes would probably enjoy them a lot.

I have a quick question before I begin to narrow my list down. Can we list EPs or only full albums? Because two EPs (Overboard & Down by Okkervil River and "Curse Your Little Heart" by Devotchka) have been staples for me this year.
I never hated any of you/I loved you all at the time
