With regards to the hip-hop mentioned in this thread I would most likely rate as follows:

The Game
Ghostface Killah
The Roots
Clipse

Just out of personal bias', that is how I perceive it.

All too often, we see overall productive and important members have squabbles about, essentially nothing save a difference in personal tastes.

Before getting defensive, we should all consider whether the offender is calling you a lard-based-chowderhead or just saying that they like Clipse more than you.

Having said that I would just like to add that you are all lard-based-chowderheads.

LOL. I hear what you're saying Mike, but you have to admit that whatever FKA's intentions were, it was kind of a douchy way to say it. As Musicalifragilistic said, a simple, "What? All that rap, and no love for Clipse?" wouldn't have been bad, but calling half of someones choices "poor" (as if it were fact) before getting around to your point is...well...douchy.

So, can we all agree to summarize as follows:

"You're a lard-based chowderhead." - PERSONAL ATTACK

"Half of your picks are poor albums." - DESTRUCTIVE CRITICISM (aka "BEING A DOUCHE")

"I don't agree with your picks because..." - CONSTRUCTIVE CRITIQUE

I enjoy a nice bowl of chowder from time to time. If that makes me a chowderhead, so be it. I'm not offended by this so-called "personal attack".

I am only offended by being labeled "lard-based." True, I have developed a bit of a middle this past year, but it is quite obviously beer-based. Razzer

I think we're going to have start a new thread and move the actual lists!

More like "sliding away, leaving a goopy concoction on the floor as you do so." What with you being a lard-based chowderhead and all.

It's lame that my #1 pick of the year is a very personal choice, but this year, it's the most boring #1 to have.

It's your personal choice so it's not lame and I'm not sure what you mean by it being the most boring #1 to have. I think it will be lots of peoples' #1 choice.

I have the Dears as my number one... very personal... and no one else even seemed to find the record half interesting.

Well, considering my screen name on this site, this better be a decent top 10 list:

10. Band of Horses-Everything all the time (best is yet to come)
9. Gnarls Barkley- St. Elsewhere (a bit top heavy but still a very good album)
8. Ladyhawk-Ladyhawk (growing on me all the time)
7. Destroyer-Rubies (still great after 50 listenings)
6. Hot Chip- The Warning (Not my favorite type of music, but it really grew on me)
5. TV on the Radio-Return to Cookie Mountain (see above)
4. Danielson-Ships (interesting, a bit annoying, weird, and yet somehow very beautiful)
3. Midlake- The Trials of Van Occupanther (anyone who has read my posts knows how much I think of this band)
2. Joanna Newsom-Y's (beautiful, epic, etc.)
1. Beirut-Gulag Orkestar (no guitars, eastern european sounding, a 19 year old singer, yet still the most original, and my favorite of this year)

Is that the first mention of Gnarls Barkley? I'm not a huge fan, but I thought that one would wind up on more lists. It's still early though...
