Good call on the Rainer Maria. There were a couple slow spots on the CD, but they are a great band - can't wait for their next CD.

M leland can break out the champange, because this is my last post on the metacritic forums. I finally found an indie music board with fewer total assholes, and mods who actually try to give the board a positive, rather than a hostile and combative atmosphere. (The only reason I even still came here is because it was the best source for recommendations.)

Those of you who are jerks, have fun accusing the next four or five new people of being me. I hope for your sake you're only assholes online.

I am lost, I must have not been here for whatever happened. Can someone redirect me or send me the link to this?

There never was any one particular incident. It's just that Leland has always thought Bob was conceited or something and Bob's always been real sensitive to negative remarks. I wish Bob had thicker skin, but I also wish people hadn't picked on him when they knew it really bothered him. Frowner

So Art is BobtheSpirit? I kept forgetting whether Bob became Art V. or Vykro.

Anyway, that's a shame. Bob was smart and literate, and his posts contributed a lot. I hope he'll be back. Having seen some other music boards, it's hard for me to believe another one is more polite and thoughtful than this one. The others I've seen -- even the very good ones, populated by music writers, critics, bloggers and musicians -- are very snarky and snide (albeit informative). This one is ideal.

I agree completely with this, Daniel. I've seen a few people leave in my time sighting a hostile environment as the reason. I've never really had that impression about the MC forums at all. Sure, there are a few people that go at it from time to time, but for the most part everyone here seems relatively friendly and helpful. Maybe I just haven't seen some of the more antagonistic exchanges.

TV on the Radio is going to run away with it, since most of the new members seem more enamored with it, than say...The Hold Steady.

I agree. There have been a few contentious exchanges out here, but overall I've been surprised as how unpretentious people on this forum are.

I think you completely missed the point by posting yet another sarcastic, caustic comment. Maybe that is the problem around here?

I'm going to be honest: I won't miss Art Vandelay, and I've never even had an exchange with him on these boards.

Art Vandelay seems to have a pretty high opinion of his importance to us. Good riddance.
