Worst year for music of this decade...you could not possibly argue that.
seriously, how many of these albums will you truly care to listen to in the years to come much less in 2007.
Liars: Drum's Not Dead Beirut: Gulag Orkestar Number three fill in the blank...tie between Beach House, Subtle, Tv on the Radio, Grizzly Bear, and Spank Rock...hell even the new LCD Soundsystem, hey it leaked in 06.

I'm pretty sure that since taste is fairly subjective in nature that not only could we all argue against that, but also win. This is one of the most erroneous statements I have seen on this site. Not because you aren't entitled to your opinion, by all means, but because it isn't possible to prove. Post your list and let us pick it apart if you're brave enough.

Hey VittorioE, great name, I love that track. The harmonies are great. Anyway, that's a good list (yes 7 of 10 are on my list). Make sure between now and Jan 15 that you get at least 30 posts so your list can count. Let RavingLunatic know once you've got 30 and he'll count it.
Mr.Natural, same goes for you.

*ducking for cover* - Static Bandit, you are in trouble. Brisby works in a record store. You will be shredded.
I agree that it's a ridiculous statement Static made. Probably the dumbest thing I've heard all year. Even if it was the worst year for music, it couldn't be argued.
However, IMO, it is not the worst year for music. I was pleasantly surprised numerous times. I thought there weren't any groundbreaking electronica albums (that I heard anyway), but otherwise, I thought most genres were represented well.
Static Bandit, I'm going to borrow a word from EricG and say what you said was pretty "douchey".

My best of the year, hands down, is "Return to Cookie Mountain" by TV on the Radio. Coming in second was a bit of a surprise, but I can't get enough of what has turned out to be one of the coolest recording projects I've seen - "Songs for Christmas" by Sufjan Stevens.

2006 has been my favorite year in quite some time. Since 2002 maybe.
