I will post my chart in a week or so(maybe more). I just want to check if 2 of the albums that will make my list are eligibil. Serena-Maneesh (this was released in 2005 in Norway). Love is all (not on metacritic, was released in 2005 in Sweden). Both albums made pitchfork top 50 last year.
Also, I'm gonna encourage everyone to give some kind of explanation or primer on bands that make your top 20 that most people aren't likely to have heard of. One of the main purposes of doing these lists is to find new music to check out. I do this a lot. It's a lot easier if everyone does a short description--even if it's just a genre like indie-folk or whatever--on the obscure bands that make your list. If you've already posted a list feel free to either edit your submission to add descriptions or comments (though not the order, of course).

I don't care if you count my list or not, but I've been reading this forum since this summer. I didn't create an account because I'm french and my english isn't great.
Your written English is great. How's this...
Bienvenue a la forum. Mon Francais c'est ne pas bon aussi.

Need I remind you all that English is the official language of the Metacritic forums. We don't take kindly to foreign languages 'round these parts. Go back to your own cybercountry!!

Hey, I didn't think you would all react to my message. My english isn't that bad since I lived in Atlanta and Sydney ( Australia ). What if I get to 20 posts before the 15/01/2007, will my list be counted ? "It's never been like that" is definitely the best french album of the year. We don't have a lot of great bands over here, but Phoenix and Air are really good.

I think that's fair. Try the 'Song Tag' and 'What Are You Listening To Right Now?' threads. It's an easy way to rack up posts.
I didn't mean any offense by the way, but if we just let anyone contribute, you'd get people who would post their list and you'd never hear from them again.

What are the best countries/regions for modern music? 1. USA 2. Britain 3. Canada 4. Scandinavia 5. Brazil (os mutantes, gil oberto, seu jorge, tom ze)
Is this right? Are there people who think UK still rules it?

Post in some of the movie threads as well. I'm trying to pad my stats and get to 2000 by the end of the year, and the ones ericg mentioned are the easiest way to do it.

My favorite French album this year is the live Camille cd. But I don't include live albums with non-new material in the year end list. Which is cool, as Camille's Le Fil is my next favorite French album of '06 (released in France in '05 but in '06 in the US & UK).

Silversun Pickups sound good. Kind of like a modern Smashing Pumpkins. They take the grunge sound forward though instead of diluting it like Nickelback and Creed. I won't be able to get all the albums I want to before the deadline, but for the personal list I always keep in a text file, in rare cases I make adjustments later.
