I'll second (or third) The Lashes, The Knife, and Victory At Sea.

Also: The Long Winters - Putting The Days To Bed.

Although it just came out yesterday, so I suppose I should be patient.

I miss the best album of 2006 so far:

Spank Rock - YoYoYoYoYo

It completely blows Peaches new CD away (which got 73). For all those people wondering why there hasn't been anything nearly as good as last year's LCD Soundsystem and M.I.A.... Spank Rock might well be the one.

Other releases that should be on the list:

Barry Adamson - Stranger on the Sofa
Dr. Israel presents Dreadtone International - Patterns of War
Kid 606 - Pretty Girls Make Raves
Lithops - Queries
Nouvelle Vague - Bande A Part
Razor X Productions (The Bug) - Killing Sound
Señor Coconut - Yellow Fever
Burnt Friedman & Jaki Liebezeit - Secret Rhythms 2

It is crazy for Silent Shout not to be on METACRITIC. It's probably the best reviewed album of the year.

I'd like to see Movie Monster by Sound Team. I've been into this band for nearly three years, though they just released work for the first time in the spring, and I think their debut full length was worth the wait.

Pitchfork doesn't think so, but the band has been getting blog hype regardless, and I'm convinced they've garnered more praise than a 3.7 (or whatever Pitchfork gave them) elsewhere.

I'd give the album at least a 7.

I liked WORK, the EP from Sound Team, especially the first two songs, "The Fastest Man Alive" and "It's Obvious What's Happening Here." But the quality of the EP drops precipitously after that, and -- blogger buzz notwithstanding -- I haven't felt compelled to buy "Movie Monster" yet (although the bad Pitchfork review wouldn't dissuade me).

Movie Monster is great, definitely check it out. I'm not sure it has enough reviews to be on Metacritic though. I know AMG gave it 4 stars and Pop Matters gave it a 7, but haven't seen any others (haven't looked in a while either though).

I know Under the Radar reviewed it in the latest issue. 4/10.

Has that not appeared on Metacritic? If not, I'm surprised. It deserves to be there, and I'm sure there are enough reviews.

EDIT: I just checked, and it's up there. It's got a Metascore of 75.

I bought it as an import last year. I love the songs "In The Round" and "I Need Some Fine Wine . . ." I haven't warmed to the rest of the album, but I'd like to. What do you like about it?

Incidentally, the album isn't even listed on METACRITIC's Upcoming Releases list, so I don't have much hope of it being included on the site.

If it gets enough reviews, it WILL be there. MC usually sneaks things in when you're not expecting it, but a veteran band will always show. Cool

PS- Keep posting here for what you want. It almost always works!!

Midlake, "The Trials of Van Occupanther"! It's been reviewed -- favorably, for the most part -- by The Guardian, AllMusicGuide, Stylus, Popmatters, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone and at least a few other print and online magazines. I think it should be on METACRITIC.

I don't think I have a favourite song, I just like the album as a hole. Mostly becouse of Nina's voice. I probably like every song she sings. When you get tired of good but complicated indie records it's good to listen to a good old-fashion pop album. They got a good review from Pitchforkmedia(7.5).

Easily,

Van Hunt's "On the Jungle Floor."

Released MONTHS ago, I still listen to it constantly. Van Hunt is a great artist who, with "Jungle Floor", has already released two extremely high-quality releases, and has yet to be justly recognized for his work.

MIDLAKE'S ALBUM IS FINALLY ON METACRITIC, as of today. And, it has a fairly robust 79 METASCORE on 17 reviews. Good. "Van Occupanther" is one of the year's best albums, and "Roscoe" is among the year's best songs.
